How could Nintendo use the SD card to work around file size limitations?

Ah. I'd still be worried about the increased wear from the longer writing times. Flash isn't very durable in my experience.
This would have zero effect.  It's not like you're running a motor or anything like on a hard drive; what you write on one part of the chip will not make any difference to the rest.

Super Meat Boy: the worst game to buy the day before an exam.

I absolutely adore the Warp Zones, and the Dark World is wholly sinister.

They just updated their Twitter with this:
Quote
lots of hubbub about the Wiiware delay, we are trying to gauge what we could do with the size we have without turning the game into crap

if the game had less music, lower rez and no online features. would this totally turn you away from the game?

i guess what we are asking is, if the wiiware version was clearly the least ideal version to buy, would you still buy it? or just get SMB pc

if we decided to try to find a publisher & do a boxed version for $20 (with extras) but come out later on the wii, would you hold out

I could never in good conscience purchase a game from a developer who can't even take the time to form proper sentences.

* conscience

I can never take a forum post seriously if it contains spelling errors.

That isn't a spelling error, I just used the wrong word because it's late and I'm really tired. There's a name for that type of mistake but I can't think of it.

Well, you spelled the wrong word, and I was just being silly.

Realistically, I hope that you wouldn't avoid what is by all accounts a wonderful game just because someone was sloppy with grammar in a Twitter post.

I was just being facetious unsuccessfully (because for me there's evidently no other kind).

Ah. I'd still be worried about the increased wear from the longer writing times. Flash isn't very durable in my experience.

The wear on flash memory is per-cell, i.e. per byte. Writing one file in chunks won't increase the wear because each cell still only gets written once. Plus the wear-out limit is something like 10k writes which really won't happen with the Wii.

I hope the write limit is more than 10,000, because I've already done more than that with Mario Kart Wii alone.

Might be 100k but either way the flash ROM will evenly spread the write operations across the cells so when you rewrite a file it's not written to the same location again but a new one.

And now,

Quote
Dear Internets: Super Meat Boy on Wii will NOT be Episodic. That's retarded and we won't do it. I'd rather kill myself.

It's a way for companies to trick you into paying more for a game. Sonic fucking 4.

I have not played an Episodic game that I like. Take it at face value and don't try to read more into it. I hate Episodic Content

Keep in mind that Nintendo sets the prices for games on their Shops, so that's a confounding factor for devs.

I also hate episodic games. You have to pay more and wait more.
Also, the game's size is a serious problem. It's hard to compress a game, and I don't want to miss any of the game's additional content.

I rather wait for they to do a CD version.

Nintendo sets the prices?  I mean, I know they set the price for Virtual Console content - but for WiiWare?  Wonder what criteria they use (aside from "I bet this'll sell for $15!").
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

This game is probably my 360 Game of the Year. If they release it on a disc for Wii with extra content I will totally double dip.
