"ARF" appears to be the glitzy fluttery PlayStation RPG this generation has been lacking so dearly.

The sooner it comes out, the sooner Wii will commandeer the genre.

Not now, later.  But they're significant as a glowing lighthouse that should help attract attention and spawn *further* developments.

This game looks incredibly fun. I haven't played a console rpg since I beat Kingdom Hearts 2, but with games like this and ToS 2 coming, that will probably change.

The graphics aren't great (Monster Hunter 3, in particular, puts this to shame), but I guess beggars can't be choosers. I'm interested in at least playing this though given the chose: Kizuna > Arc Rise Fantasia.

Then it's a good sign that Wii is inheriting the PSX RPG market -- something not as feasible on the PS3/360 super-duper-expensive-and-time-consuming RPG business.

What was the term again? "Good money after bad"? Why can't they make it sell well?

I don't see why it would sell bad. It's an RPG for the wii, which is a genre the system really needs more of. It looks like a very solid release.

How many RPGs are available now on the wii? Not counting the VC, I can only think of Paper Mario and side offerings from main series RPGs (Dragon Quest: Swords and a mystery dungeon Chocobo game). It's not like it's crowded at the moment.

Of the top of my head I can think of a few.Barouqe, those FF spin-offs that you mentioned,Dragon Warrior Swords, there is another but I can't place the name.

Opoona is the other known RPG.  And they all bombed.

Dokapon Kingdom is sort of a RPG. There's also Baroque and I guess DQ Swords if you want to count those 3. TOS2 is just around the corner. In 2009 there will be a whole lot of Wii RPGs.

Yes that is the other one Pro. Thank you.Hmmm from reviews the reason Opoona bombed was because I think that the reviewers said the art style was to young for their tastes.Baroque was given a 3 by NP and I think other sites did low scores as well.The part where you when you died you lost your weapons and items and had to start at the begining of the tower irked many people.Dragon warrior swords wasn't deep enough. I haven't seen any reviews on Chocobo tales.So I will look for some.

I wouldn't be surprised. The internet doesn't do a great job of expressing tone.

But anyway, I still have high hopes for the game. And if they're worried about sales, they can always throw a 'z' around or add horses.
