Yeah, it was an event in the GC version. Tortimer and the villagers gathered under the fountain and Mr. Resetti, wearing a tuxedo, would appear and say if spring was near or if there would be more winter.

You didn't get anything out of it, though.

hm that woulda been cute to see. I probably just missed it, i rarely checked the message board. The little bird that appears on the Wii version is a wonderful addition, because now I'll never miss an announcement for a future event.

For the hell of it, I decided to watch some videos of AC on the GC and DS, and discovered a lot of surprising things...

- The graphics in the GC version were ASS! The style may be simplem, but the graphics are smooth and  clean on the Wii.

- The animalese is lower on the GC version

- The buildings in the GC version were basically boxes with little detail

- I LOVE the camera on the DS and Wii version. The overhead camera on the GC version was annoying (even if it was reminiscent of Zelda)

- In the DS version your house had more upgrades, I believe up to three (you could choose between another room or a basement). The design of the house is different, but I think its because you couldn't have a second, third or fourth house in your village, so it made sense to have a big house for four players.

- In the DS version not only could you get photos from your villagers you could also get photos from the other characters (Nook, K.K. Slider, Pelly etc.). I don't know if this is available on the Wii version...

Its fun seeing how the same concept changes in between versions.

I like the animalese from the GC version better. When I made catchphrases for my villagers, it was more phonetic. One of my favorites was having the girls say 'twinkles', the cats saying 'me meow', and they actually pronounced my name (coincidental no doubt) which was Djunk. The closest phonetics I can get so far in the wii version is 'bada-bing' or 'bada-boom...'

Has anyone checked the HRA model room lately? Looks like mine took the award for 'most traditional', I was surprised to find my HRA go from 5,995 to over 87,000. This sort of thing never happens to me!

Febuary charm: Cut down 1 tree in my town, and something good will happen. It doesn't get any easier than that!

Yes, I noticed that the animalese in the GC version was closer to sped up English.

As for your room, Lyle has it on display in my town.

Not me, I haven't been online in a while (save for the other night with Kairon and Sirsniffy).

In any case, did you guys check out the new Gracie's collection? Did you guys get your Resetti model? If anyone missed theirs...contact me.

I want to say that was me... I like burying things behind houses because people rarely find them, and i noticed when going thru my catalog that i had a Japanese Drum, but couldn't remember actually having it. So yeah, maybe it was me!

Life's been strange for me and I haven't been playing as much as I would like. Once a week isn't cutting it :(

I have to say the localization of this game is excellent...

In Japan, they celebrated "Bean Day", a holiday in which they throw beans in order to scare away the demons (its in a way related to New Year's). Of course, this was celebrated in the Japanese version of AC. What surprised me is that if you have a Japanese friend you can visit his town and everything will be in English and you will even receive the special item!

This video explains it all:
http://www.wipido.com/video/AjTasCzKcvFr

Again, really good localization.

I hope you haven't given up on getting the Unknown Machine to me, Fleece, I've just been really busy lately. Also, Maxi, I still have some musical instruments cluttering up my main room that I meant to give to you. Perhaps we could all get together later tonight and exchange our various things and have a good time, it's been a while since I've played the game with other people.
