Red Steel 2 to Leverage Wii Motion Plus

According to Alain Corre, executive director for Ubisoft, Red Steel 2 has been in development for "many months now, and this new device will help us be even more precise."

 In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Alain Corre, executive director for Ubisoft, has revealed that Nintendo's Wii MotionPlus will be used to augment the first-person experience for Red Steel 2. A sequel to the launch day hit has been rumored to be in development for quite some time, but this is the first official proof that one is Wii bound.

According to Corre, "the Red Steel brand is strong … [but] [the first title] was a bit rushed to be sure to offer something in year one to Wii consumers." With the creation of Wii MotionPlus, the Red Steel team has been at work for "many months now … [and can use] this new device ... [to] be even more precise."

No other details were revealed, but players can probably expect an enhanced sequel to the first Red Steel sometime next year, after the Wii MotionPlus debuts alongside Wii Sports Resort in the spring.

Call me crazy but I'm actually looking forward to this.  I think Red Steel needed a lot more time to make it right, and if they put in 1:1 sword controls and spend the time to make 2 good, it may be the game we all thought part 1 was going to be.

Maybe, I'm hoping they are taking cues from Prime 3 and MoH with the shooter controls because they are awful in the first one. The sword controls will almost inevitably be better just with the added Wii MotionPlus control.

The best thing about Motion Plus not coming until next year is that Ubisoft can't rush this out for Christmas.

IT BETTER be better. I mean come on now the first one is ass.

They are going to have to make this game awesome to scrub off the stink of the first one.

The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

Yeah, I was about to ASK that. Is this enough of an apology for the glut of casual titles Ubisoft is making?

EDIT: added verbs so that it sounds intelligible/comprehensible.

Not quite, needs more PoP. Then they'd make me happy. Although they are making progress as I enjoyed Red Steel.

Now if they want to go above and beyond they could also make a traditional Rayman game, that'd be cool.  As long as it doesn't suck like the ds one did.

This could actually be good. First one was sub-par particularly in the sword controls. I remember how disappointing it was the first time i played it. Hopefully they can make up for it this time.
