It's seriously crazy how fast things can shift. First Sony comes out of nowhere and takes the crown, and now Nintendo have blasted back from their downward spiral and are breaking records left and right. They've gone from their least-successful console to what's looking like their most-successful console. I really have to give them props for making such a quick turn-around, it truly is amazing.

Where have you been? This shift happened 2 years ago in 2007. :P

Maybe the teen gamers of the PSX era have grown-up and have to deal with the real world now, pulling them away from game consumption.

The problem is the Japanese don't reproduce. Seriously, their population is declining...
maybe if they got out more instead of playing video games and making love to pillow & doll versions of anime characters reproduction wouldn't be a problem. Or maybe the Japanese women just need a new flavors to their menu.

But since all their men happen to be pre-occupied...
Who's going with me? To Japan that is?

*i apologize as part of this post may seem mean and rather unnecessary

I recall reading that the expectations of men and women in Japan simply differ so they can't find partners. I think an influx of foreigners might actually fix that to some degree.

Well, I was hoping to go there at some point. I have a friend there and would like to visit them some time. If you go to Japan I'll come with you. I need to go back to learning Japanese.

Nobody thought the system would keep selling like it has. It just passed the SNES, which was on the market for eight years. Things were crazy back in 2007 and they are still crazy today.

OH look, the Wii is ahead of the PS3?

DOES THIS SPELL DOOM FOR SONY?  Michael Pachter explains why this is not the case.

Is this a threat to Sony's Success?  Expect an IGN Editorial to follow promptly.

OK lets have a freak out whine fest now that PS3 lost to Wii one week. It spelled doom for Wii when it was ahead by like 5k so to be consistent won't those people have to say the same thing about PS3?

It just passed the SNES, which was on the market for eight years. Things were crazy back in 2007 and they are still crazy today.

The Wii passed the SNES about 1 1/2 months ago (in late-March), although I guess that is still pretty recent. The SNES was officially out for 8 years (13 in Japan), but hardware sales were basically done after about 5 1/2 years. The Wii is 11.52 million behind the NES, meaning that by the end of the year the Wii could be Nintendo's best selling console ever.

Apparently our competitors have trouble closing some kind of "gap."  My initial reaction... "Not my problem."

As for the enthusiast press, monthly records have shown that quoting Mr. Pachter does not improve HD system sales nor soften the impact from my punt. :reggie:

OH look, the Wii is ahead of the PS3?

DOES THIS SPELL DOOM FOR SONY?  Michael Pachter explains why this is not the case.

Is this a threat to Sony's Success?  Expect an IGN Editorial to follow promptly.

*sigh*

If only.

Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

OK I know i've been here long enough to know such things, but this guy isn't the real Reggie right? Just the way he worded his sentence it really looks like its him. He's not right?

*Now expecting completely sarcastic answers*

And LOL at the IGN editorial remarks. Thats exactly whats going to happen. 2 weeks out of 80 billion that Sony sells more and it spells doom for nintendo, I love it!

I think it was 5-6 weeks in a row and they probably made up around 50k in sales (japan) while they needed to make up about 5000k to catch up (in Japan)

As far as Reggie is concerned, rumor has it that hes been wandering around the internets popping up on Nintendo specific forums ever since they shut down N-sider on nintendo.com... well, lurking might be more appropriate since I don't know how many other forums he post on, but he's been on a war path since then and taking names where ever he goes.

well rumor also has it, that after last years E3 performance, Reggie was forced to take his own name (and punt himself?) which has since left him mute and identity-less. Which explains why we haven't hear from since then until now. I guess Reggie got his groove name back, which means there might be hope for the people on his list.
