I don't think Sony cares. I think they even said they didn't care if they lost the console race as long as it helped Blu-ray Disc become a success.

Well, I wonder if it's paying off, I doubt they're making as much on bluray royalties as they would have on PS2-level game sales.

... and oh, BTW, it plays games

I wouldn't have guessed that if I judged it by the number of games being released for it  ;)
The only games I have been interested in for the PSP are the Pattapon games which I hope get a port to DS at some point and also that Lord of the Rings SRPG that was released a while back.

The DS just has more of the type of games I like on it. They both cater to different markets. Tenchu 4 did come out for it but I got that on Wii. It is sad to see the PSP being relegated to a similar position that the Nintendo consoles have been where it is the' downgraded me too ports' machine like Gamecube, N64 and even the Wii. Even though they cater to vastly different markets the Wii and the PSP have been treated quite similarly to each other.

I think Kutaragi (or some exec) even said Sony could sell the first 5 million PS3's without even releasing any games.

I still laugh when people say "this will be the year Sony turns the PS3 around", something they've been saying since 2006.

Fired? Quit? Retire? NO!!... Seppuku is the only way out.

The Wii is selling third party games. I think I can brave anything today because of that!

Yeah there is a thread in General Gaming about Sony's problems.

I agree Kairon it is pretty nice that 3rd party's are selling nicely.There are a few titles that don't get the attention that others do.As the 3rd party aficionado you need to spread word of these great titles.

DSi sales seem to be slowing quite a bit in Japan, I wonder if we may see the follow up to DS sooner then we think, perhaps next year? At 26 million it has been topping out.

@GP
How long has the DSi been out in Japan? It may just be a steady burning system since much of the selling points are more extra/bonus material. There have yet to be any killer DSi retail releases or DSiWare apps so it may also be due to that regard.

That is the other possibility. The thing is that when it was first released it did great but now it isn't doing so well, perhaps it is a similar problem with Wii where people don't have any games to boost sales.
