That is how I next Gen game.  I bet on one console for the generation, then near the end of the generation, buy the other two and trade for the key games.

What's the deal with this "Xbox arcade" anyway?  That means no hard-drive, right?  How severe are the restrictions that imposes in practice?

They're only 19000 yen (~ $190) brand new, so it's kinda tempting... I don't really know any games I want, but maybe something like RE5...?

Well an arcade used to have a 256MB memory card but they turned it into 256MB internal memory. Basically you can pretty much use it for game saves because the Arcade game limit is almost 200MB.

Basically you can't rent movies, download demoes, download a lot of content, download a lot of Xbox live arcade games, buy xbox originals, install games into the harddrive(a useless optional feature IMO), take advantage of games that use the utility partition to help loading times.

So basically practically anything besides playing games.

Really, the pro is like 50€ more and comes with 60GB HDD space which has all the room for demos, videos, games, etc you'd want. Depending on the game the HDD install might be useful too.

Yes I think in arcades you get a free month of xbox live but no one is immune to the 50 dollar subscription fee for a year. If you want WiFi the Xbox 360 WiFi adapter is $99.99. Without a harddrive you are just severely limited to what you can do online.

The XBLA games come on a disc, the holiday bundle has Sega Tennis in it  (Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda for Pro and Elite) I believe the Holiday game bundle choices are to show that 360 has family friendly games as well LOL.

If you buy an Arcade, or have bought one in the past, or a Core system, you can get a 20GB HDD for $30 from Microsoft, or a 256MB memory card for free. You can also get a 3rd party WiFi adapter for like $70, which still sucks.

You do have to note that the 20GB harddrive in that offer is refurbished, and the free memory card is 512MB, 256MB memory cards are discontinued ever since microsoft moved those to internal memory only on arcade systems. The cheapest way for a 360 WiFi is making a wireless bridge or bridge the connection off a laptop.

Umm Kai you got it reverse, added value has the things included. I think you are looking at hidden costs because if you have a Arcade System you need a hard drive, you need HD cables or HDMI cable if you want high def, headset if you want voice chat, 50 a year subscription if you want to play online, wifi adapter if you want wireless internet access to your 360.
