Mafia are the bad guys, nobody wants to see them win. Plus I'm too sweet and innocent to be a killer.

Plus mafia root for mafia. You think they would not root for themselves?

23 is a good number. Should be fun. I just hope I'll be able to play an active role. I may have to go MIA if I get a job call this coming week. I'm getting desperate enough that I might go sell my blood to a research company or play my guitar on a street corner for change.

If you shake your remote at the right moment you avoid any slowdown from a POW hit. You have to waggle right before the POW disappears.

I know that, but you still lose your item. You have to get off the ground to dodge it completely.

True, but I feel rather special when I pull off the shake-dodge properly. Everyone else is slowed down and I maintained my speed.

A friend said he'd gift me Half-Life 2 for a belated b-day gift if I set up an account. Apparently I already had one back in the day because it pulled an old handle of mine.

I'm guessing your friend just picked up the weekend deal (The Orange Box for only $9.99) and now has an extra copy of Half-Life 2.  If you buy a game as part of a package on Steam and you already own the game, you get a second copy that you can gift to a friend.

I'm sorry, I meant to say he got me the whole Orange Box. He even told me it was because of the deal that he was getting it for me since I told him I was too tight on money to grab the deal when he called me to let me know about it. He is a good and generous friend, one of my closest. I'm telling him to join the NWR forum. He listens to the podcast I believe so he may join up.

I really, REALLY want L4D but my laptop supposedly won't be able to run it. I do go to an internet cafe from time to time in the local Super Mall and play it with this same friend.

I would think I should already have unlocked Birdo since I do play a lot of time trial. I'll bet it's because I play the ghost challenge mode and for whatever reason I get a lot of repeat courses when I play that way. I'm probably only a course or two away from the threshold.

I'm not sure if it counts if you play it that way, you might have to play the Time Trials from the 1-player mode. You can check to see which tracks you've set a time on by going to Time Trials and selecting a course.

How many Wi-Fi wins do you have? If you'll be playing online this weekend then maybe you could rack up 250 Wi-Fi wins instead.

LOL, I don't think I'll have enough time for that many wins though I do hope to be on tomorrow night. My Win-Lose record is not that good. We'll see I suppose.

I've heard of Clearwire and I may do that and forgo getting cable. Another friend uses it as well. Is if fast enough to work well for online games? I will want to use it to play Steam games, Wii and DS.

If stores like GameStop offered periodic deals on games like Amazon does I consider shopping there most of the time.

They do, their "game days" sale. Also, if you sign up for their email newsletter then you will get a coupon every week, which will either be a percentage off a system's new or used games, or more trade-in credit.

The only one's I have seen are discounts on new games when you trade in old ones. The best I ever saw was this last Christmas with a 'buy 2 get 1 free' type deal. I 'll have to look more closely at those emails since I do get them as I must not read them well enough.
Though they may only offer them on games I'm not interested in.

I think Capcom just needs to give/sell the rights to the IP to Platinum. I would love a sequel or another type of game in it's vein with new gameplay hooks and features.

I am curious what their next Wii project will be.

WiiWare needs more platformer games. The only other one on the horizon is that Three Musketeers game unless you count Explodemon and the very far off Lostwinds 2 (studio very busy on an HD console project right now).

There was apparently a 1998 arcade game, too.  (Edit:  I think I may have wasted fifty cents in a broken one of these once.)

The '83 game and its immediate sequel were included in the Rogue Squadron games on GameCube, so either LucasArts owns the games outright or has at least been able to work out a deal in the past.

Is that on the bonus disc that was a pre-order bonus? I seem to have lost my copy of the bonus disc so I am curious if it really is hidden on the main game disc somewhere.

I would be happy with any of the SW arcade games coming to VC Arcade. It would make sense to have a 100 point premium on it like Ninja Turtles did. Though how big were they? Do we know if VC Arcade has the same 40MB limit or do you think it could allow for larger sized arcade games?

The Lego series is also being milked like crazy. We have Lego Battles coming up, and there were rumors of Lego Harry Potter and Lego Indiana Jones 2 as well.

Yeah but real legos are still the best!

I love my LEGOs. I still have all mine out in my parents garage. Sometimes I want to just tear them all out and make things. I'm also tempted to go buy all those new ones I see in stores, especially the Star Wars ones.

While I'm puzzled about this as much as the next person, part of me really likes the idea of it because one of my favorite parts of Rock Band (aside from singing boistrously in an imitation glam rock voice) is seeing my custom characters on the screen performing. Though I would especially like it if it was compatible with all my previous DLC.

Did I miss it or will this only be coming to Wii and DS? Interesting that they are choosing to bypass the PS2 considering how popular it is to make Wii/PS2 projects.

MK: DD is definitely the worst Mario kart to date. They should have just upgraded MK64, but they took away something that just changed the game for me. The hop to power slide being one of those things. The rest I can't quite put a finger on, but that game was just missing something that made MK64 & MKDS so special.

Double Dash's partner system allowed for quite a bit of strategy when using and/or planning to use weapons. That, as well as the character-specific weapons, are something that is greatly missed in other installments.

This is what make DD for me. I had a friend who was my permanent DD partner. I was the driver and he was the gunner. We were awesome. You had to work together to pull off the mini turbos, you could swap items on the fly when needed, the gunner had better aim and control since they didn't have to worry about driving, and a good gunner could use the side lunge to steal items, upset opponents and to save your cart from an object with a quick side dodge. Though he sometimes went crazy with the dodging when we were in a tight pack and we would sometimes careen off a nearby ledge, but it was a blast. I loved how Gamecube games like DD, Crystal Chronicles and Four Swords emphasized teamwork and communication.


As for other GC titles to try, I recommend these:

I think it's fair towards local stores when online retailers have to pay taxes too, otherwise online retail gets to undercut the local stores automatically.

Then we just shouldn't let any online stores do business because they already have a benefit that undercuts local stores: I don't have to leave my house if I don't want to and I also wouldn't have to spend the gas money if I had to drive to said local stores. That is a benefit many are willing to pay shipping for and will overlook said local stores. This undercuts local stores automatically.

If stores like GameStop, GameCrazy and Wal-Mart offered periodic deals on games like Amazon does I consider shopping there most of the time. If they offer periodic deals on WW games I would go to them over directly purchasing them from the Shop Channel.

And going back to the wheel versus controller, as my interest in MK has drastically increased, so has my enjoyment of using the waggle-mote. I used to ONLY use a GC controller. I still can't get used to the wheel but I really like having the waggle for tricks, dodging POWs and for popping wheelies. It makes it more fun for me.


I find it funny how people are appalled if they find out someone doesn't know about a certain band. Even the 'greatest' bands are missed by some people and no band has 100% universal appeal. Unless you can show me hard data where record sales/downloads are greater than the population of a country then everyone has most certainly not heard of certain 'big bands of renown'.

You whine a lot about being unable to dodge taxes... Over here the sales tax simply applies to everything, no dodging via online orders or stuff.

We whine because many of use were used to the idea that they were not taxable matters. Having them be taxed is relatively new for a number of us.

I just need to hurry and find a new place to move to since then I get get internet again. I have a possible place lined up for mid may when my current lease ends but it's not set in stone. Does anyone have a good recommendation for ISP? I only really use internet but I am thinking I will get cable in my new place. I do care about bandwidth caps and getting high speeds but at the moment I need it on a budget.

Yeah, there was the confusion. I will agree that the Xbox Controller S is a little weird (I never used the "Duke" controller). The Xbox 360 controller is vastly superior to the Xbox ones.

Who calls it Duke? I always knew it as "The Hamburger". Since all of my early exposure to XBox was the dorm lounge and we were always trading off controllers I got used to both of those designs plus a different 3rd party controller. Good times.

ANYWHO... Back to the topic at hand:
I wonder if they are considering making a New Super Mario Brothers for the Wii. It would be interesting to see what they could do with that possibility. Though between Warioland and Mario Galaxy we may not get a chance for a full length 2D Mario game on the Wii.

It could potentially be a great crossover market considering it is still on top 10 game sales lists in the US.
