In response to illegal D/L sites like Ian mentioned, there is one Russian based site that sells MP3s at a dirt cheap price (like $0.10/MB) because they are all pirated. I think you could be punished by your government in some countries if you are caught D/Ling fro them and a lot of other countries are fighting to have them taken down but Russia won't force them out of business.

I think word of mouth and a little research will protect you from D/Ling from these places. How do you know that iTunes, Steam or Amazon MP3 are legit? Word of mouth, news and reviews. That Russian site? It sounded fishy and the prices were too good to be true so I looked them up on Google and Wikipedia and got a fuller story regarding them.

I got on their site and it felt like walking into a garage filled with bootlegs. You can tell so long as you keep from being blind and ignorant.

Yeah, but just the idea that you were watching scared me.

I take it you read some 1984? Big Brother is watching! ;)

Mop it up, your power would have been great today considering Maxi might be up for lynching tonight. Plus you were one of my closer allies.

Both no Prince and the DLC list are disappointing.

Maybe if Beatles and some others sell well he'll change his mind. I know Led Zeppelin also refuses to have their stuff released. We still have a few hold outs but I think eventually everyone will acquiesce.

TalkBack / Re: There Won't Be Blood

Why do we care? I thought we were a crowd of people who cared more about gameplay than graphics. Smash Brothers doesn't have blood and IGN's 'Trick' trailer shows how ridiculous blood would be in some games. Is the game fun? Does it play well? Blood is merely an unnecessary garnishment.

Shouldn't we be more upset by the possibility of not having any multiplayer in the game?

is Djunkown the correct answer?

If there was a woman on the internetz named 'Djunkown', then yes, that would be correct. Djunknown(at least this Djunknown), however, lacks female genitalia  ;)

It's from Hello Dolly, one of the songs from this movie is Wall-E's favorite song.

Small world. My high school did that musical my senior year, I was one of the many chorus members, though I got a small speaking role as the judge towards the end of the thing. My favorite number was 'No blue Monday in your Sunday clothes', can't remember the exact title...

I would love to see that show live. Yeah, that song is the one Wall-E is fond of. That's how I found out about the musical, after watching Wall-e my Dad found the movie and showed it to us. Hard to believe the one guy with the high pitched voice was Michael Crawford who because the Phantom of the Opera in the original musical.

I thought that Stevey vote was ridiculous. He should be allowed to vote as he pleases. At some point it will be forbidden to randomly vote on day one if it keeps up. What happens if someone else votes for the same person all the time? I thought 'vendettas' we part of the fun in this game?

Maybe I just don't trust Pale in mafia farther than I can spit (and I suck at spitting).

I remember Dark Summit. IGN gave it a really poor rating and I would have passed it up save for the positive Planet Gamecube review. While it wasn't GREAT, I still found it quite enjoyable having a snowboarding/platforming game. It had some good ideas that I'd like to see in future games. I do wish I hadn't sold it because I'd love to go back and play it again at some point.

Thankfully it's pretty cheap in most places.

Looks like the Tenchu 1st person sword fights. Hope it plays better than that though. My least favorite part of Tenchu was the direct combat. Never could get it quite right.

No multi is a real bum. Odd that a system known for filling a party role is getting burned with lack of multi. First no local in Conduit and then RS2, our possible local FPS fix, has not to speak of!  :P

Mop it up was suspicious of Spak from the get-go. Spak, Maxi, myself and mop were part of an alliance and mop it up always had reservations regarding Spak.

How many of these people do we know to be townie?

Pap, Khush and himself were and both Maxi and I are claiming to be townie. Maybe he was just sending this to people he thought he could trust starting out?

Even though there's legitimate suspicion surrounding Maxi and I naturally find his vote in this round troubling, I have reason to vote otherwise. Having looked at his voting record and received some bad intel from him as well, I'm compelled to:

Vote Stratos

Thanks, Greg, I was only looking out for you.

Out for a day and all hell breaks loose. I was the one who lead Maxi to believe Rab's accidental post was a mafia slip up. Pap and Maxi got them as well as their names were in the heading along with mine.

I just got online so I'm playing catchup.

I've been swayed.

I'm getting kicked out of my coffee shop, they're closing.

I might find another one later but this might be it for me today, night guys.

You're right.  Realistically this isn't going to happen in my life time so I don't really have to worry about it.  And if it does I'll probably be a geezer and not really have the same interests and priorities I have now.  I do find though that I feel very detached from the world, like I'm the last of one generation and those only a few years younger than me are the first of another.  Is it a cause of technology changing so quickly?  Does the world change so fast now that we can have generation gaps that are only like five years apart?

I know what you mean, Ian. I feel there are broader and broader gaps between me and people younger than me. Texting, Twitter, what next? I just want to talk to people face to face.

Is it bad that I tease high schoolers I know about the absurdity and needlessness of texting? I think it's funny when I basically show them that it's glorified emailing and the go "you still email? just message people in facebook/myspace".

@Mop it up
If we were neighbors in real life then I think we would be having trips every weekend together to brows garage sales and second hand outlet stores for old games. I love doing that and wish I had someone who would enjoy coming with me in my area.

There is a joy in stumbling across an old working NES or Atari and a dozen games. I almost got an Atari and 30 games that way but I left to another part of the store and came back and it was already grabbed. Too slow, I learned my lesson.

This is a surprising change of flavor from the old trailers. Looks like it went from Adult Swim cartoon theme to Jetix (Disney 'cool' action cartoon channel) type stuff.

If the game could pull off a quality 3D Vectorman then I would be happy. Vectorman came to mind when watching this trailer.

Then why do other sites do it? We've posted scans from famitsu and other mags from Japan before. Or is it a US legal matter?

Couldn't you do just parts of a page?

LOL that Khush and Stevey, bitter rivals, are both ousted on the first day.

Poor nuclearspeed, he had his whole life ahead of him...*SNIFF*...poor little guy.

If I had the magazine & scans weren't against the rules, then I just might have(if my scanner was working).

Why are scans against the rules?

Yeah, I've heard rumors of a "Stratos Track Pack" recently.

Ha!

Gee, what would my track pack have?

Nightwish, definitely Nightwish.
Santana, more Within Temptation and some Evanescence would be nice too.

Though I'll probably get some Santana kicks from the Greatest Hits game coming soon.

How sure are we of this vote?

We can't be sure of this vote or any other vote at this stage, that's the way Day 1 works sadly.

I didn't look at his question that way. Good point and that's why I won't join it. I don't want to KO a townie for a silly little lesson I don't even agree with.

It's 5 for stevey, 6 if we count oohhboys unbolded vote and there is no clear second, only a few with one vote each so unless there is a mass 20-minute revolt then it's curtains for stevey.

Vote Stevey

Every time I get killed Khush is the only one smart enough to know who I am and possibly save me. But time and time again he is already dead. I am voting to keep Khush in game so we can play intelligently. He maybe Mafia, but that is a risk I am willing to take. I am protecting him so he can protect me.

Was that a real vote? because you didn't bold it. Don't you have to bold it for it to count? Or did you already vote and this was you telling other people to do the same?
