What games do you plan on playing during the SUMMER
« on: May 12, 2009, 06:38:11 PM »
Summer starts Friday for me. Got my last final Thursday and moving out of dorm Friday morning.  Last summer was great for gaming as Wiiware started and I downloaded a number of games. I also tried out Final Fantasy 6 (the one with the opera) but I didn't enjoy it as much as Final Fantasy 3 (with moon mission at end) which I played the summer prior.

I pretty much gave up gaming to focus on studies as of late so I am ready to go back into it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are the games I plan to BUY / play during summer:

DS:

Chronno Trigger: Very interested in this game for a while  and now I have time to play.

Space Invaders Extreme: I'm going to beat this damn game

Wii:

MadWorld : Going to pick up this game ASAP and have some fun.

The Conduit: I love FPS games and I want to support such an ambitious effort

Wii Sports Resort: I had fun with first one, and this should be a fun party game. I really want to try out Wiimotion plus as well.

WiiWare:

( I assume these games will release during Summer )

Cave story: I heard this is similar to Metroid so I'll give it a try

Night game: I loved World of Goo so this sounds like a great successor

Lost winds 2: I enjoyed the first game allot and this should fun

Icarian: Kindred Spirits: Looks like a great platformer and similar to lost winds

Update: Final Fantasy IV: The After Years: I loved 4 so I wonder of the other adventures that will happen.

Virtual Console:

Super Punch-Out: I never really played this before so I downloaded it when it released a month ago but never had time to play so this should be fun.

????: I have no clue what Nintendo plans to release so I'll judge them every week if its worthy of my money.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So that's it for my list.  I have a Mac so PC games are limited, but I rather play with my Wii or DS anyway. I don't own any other consoles but I am confident I won't be bored when it comes to gaming this summer. I might re-activate my Gamefly account and rent some games too, I haven't decided yet.

So What games are looking forward to buying/ playing during this Summer ?

I've bought 11 Wii games so far this year and have only played one of them, and I'll be buying at least half a dozen more in the next couple months so I probably won't be playing many games this summer.

I own but haven't opened the following games.

Wario Land Shake It
MadWorld
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles
Retro Game Challenge

I plan on playing all those for the next few months.

I'll also pick up Little King Story, The Conduit and probably Punch-Out!! in the near future.

MadWorld : Going to pick up this game ASAP and have some fun.

Rumor is that GameStop might be discounting this game to $29.99 this coming Friday, so you might want to hold off for a couple days.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I have a Mac so PC games are limited[...]

It's called Boot Camp. It'll solve all of those problems pretty quickly, if not ideally. ;)

It will be limited if he has a macbook with a integrated Intel GMA chip. Then again all integrated graphics chips generally suck.

It's perfectly stable, and doesn't really use up any more resources than Windows would normally. It's simply a second partition that you can boot into. It's no different than using GRUB to install Linux on a portion of your hard drive. Perhaps you are thinking of Parallels? That is a virtual desktop, and certainly does use a ton of resources.

Don't plan on buying any new games at the moment as I have no job and am also in college (it's a 2 year program, so it goes year-round). Games I currently own that I plan on playing on a regular basis (at least a couple times a week):

Animal Crossing: City Folk
Wario Land: Shake It! (i've owned it for about 2 1/2 months and haven't even opened it yet)
The Simpsons Game (Xbox 360 version. I already beat it and collected everything, but I have the urge to play it again and I want to beat the last 2 or 3 time challenges I haven't beat).
I might finally sink some time into Phantasy Star II. I was gifted this for Christmas but have only spent about 1 hour total.
Mario Kart Wii
Grand Theft Auto IV (if my sisters asshole boyfriend finally replaces it after I let him borrow it and my nephew scratched it to hell).

There are several Virtual Console and WiiWare games I would love to get if anybody feels like helping out a poor college student. :)

Adolph, they haven't even started production of Lostwinds 2 yet. They are working on some fancy HD console project at the moment and won't be getting to LW any time soon. They said thie on their message boards.

I will play for Wii:
WarioLand
More Rock Band and Guitar Hero
Animal Crossing
Mario Kart
Tenchu

For DS I'll play:
Chrono Trigger

Retro:
Chrono Cross once I beat Trigger
Mario & Luigi 1
Rayman 2
One of the Banjo Games

For PC I'll play:
Orange Box, especially Team Fortress 2 once I get my USB ports working.
Sins of a Solar Empire
Civilization 4
Colonization

I'll Buy:
Madworld
Rythm Heaven
Conduit
DK Jungle Beat
Left 4 Dead once I get a better computer (also a summer goal)
Klonoa
Mushroom Men
BWii
Order of Ecclesia
Rune Factory Frontier
Little King's Story
A god awful lot of VC and some WW to boot.

I will also be getting back into DDR and may grab some new mixes either for the PS2 or get one of the Wii versions.

Yikes. I need a second job methinks. And an extra weekend to play all of these. I also want to start hunting for old games again once I have more disposable income.

I also want a motorcycle and to fix up my car...yeah, second job, and overtime at both if possible. I guess I could sell my blood. Friend gets $40 per pint or something like that ;)

After looking through my list, I realize I have a lot of catching up to do. Even if I didn't buy another game all summer, I'd still have lots of games to choose from.

Games I'm playing through or need to finish for Wii:
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Klonoa
Animal Crossing
WarioLand Shake It
Pikmin
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Okami (if I can finish Zelda)

Games I will play through or finish on DS:
Chrono Trigger
Dragon Quest V
Pokemon Platinum
Sonic Chronicles (made it to the second half, but haven't touched it since)

Games I hope to buy this summer:
Arc Rise Fantasia (Amazon lists it for June, but I've also heard it's coming in November)
The Conduit
Excitebots
TheNorthSea/TofuFury

i just finished Chronno Trigger and I finished madworld yesterday.

I'll trade them both in Tomorrow and that should pay off The Conduit. Chronno Trigger is an amazing game, easily the best RPG I have ever played. 30 excellent hours of entertainment. I don't feel like doing all the sidequests I did some, but not all. And I got the 1st ending which is fine with me, I heard that is the best. Madworld is a cool game but it got boring toward the end and no replay value. I don't want to play hard mode, and multiplayer like the actual game will grow boring.

Finally finished up Half-Life 2: Episode 1 & 2.
Started and finished Bioshock
Just began Dead Space.

This season will probably entail:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
Prince of Persia
Mirror's Edge
Assassin's Creed
Mass Effect
NecroVision

Upcoming Games of Interest:
Ghostbusters
Street Fighter IV

I think the only Wii game of real interest that it coming up soon would be the new Virtua Tennis. I'll need to get new hardware for that though. :(
