Something even more interesting about Ultra Street Fighter 2 - it's a port of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix for Xbox 360/PS3 from over 8 years ago, and costs $40 instead of $15 (on Xbox Live Arcade/PSN).

It's actually not a port. It has two graphical-style modes (retro and HD), a new grapple-break mechanic, and two new playable characters.

So Ultra Street Fighter 2 actually really is more than a port. News emerged this week of a first-person mode and a 250-page art gallery. Not sure what the first-person mode actually is, but I'm hearing it's anything from a first-person fighting game to a first-person shooting gallery mode (featuring ha-do-ken's?). Either way, it's additional content using the joycons. Could be interesting.

Some footage of the first-person mode was streamed earlier today if you wanna get a quick look at it. It starts near the 2 hour 57 minute mark:

That... unfortunately, is so bad that I feel unsold from the game. Did they really tack that on just so they can justify the cash grab??

EDIT: I guess this is only 50% through development? Maybe we can expect it to improve. It still seems like a really shallow, superficial mode. I'd rather have the game for $15 ($20 at most) and scrap the motion control mode.

These are far from official, but hearing a couple of really solid rumors. One is highly unsurprising in that Capcom wants to bring Resident Evil to the Switch. The other concerns Square and the desire to bring FFXIV to Switch.

I know this thread is for officially announced games, but we gotta have some discussion for rumors. I much prefer this thread remain active than any of the currently living discussions that have little/nothing to do with actual Switch games.

Rive coming to Switch is excellent news. I was really hoping that would happen but wasn't really expecting it with the state the developer was in.

Shadows over Heck is targeting PS4 Pro/Scorpio/high end PCs, from what it seems. The first one got held back by being cross-platform, so why not make it a tradition?

I wonder how Sony and MS feel about that?  Surely they wouldn't want too many "exclusives" out of the gate.

Paying more for what will likely be the worst looking/running version of the game seems off, but I do like the physical release.  I might wait for it to have a price drop, although it will likely be a small fraction of the price on PC by then.  Given the price of Bomberman and Tetris, it makes sense that Indies would see a chance to charge more on the Switch.  If they don't sell well, the price will come down.

One of the mystery games is no longer a mystery. "AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected" is a first person rogue like game being made by 2 people.

Yeah, I feel the same way.  Very impressive aesthetically, but rogue likes tend to be tedious.

The producer of Sonic 2006?

No, in that case, the city would be super flat and have random canals going through and have rooftops that make you jitter back and fourth as you snap to the 'gravity" of your sloped roof.

Seriously, though, we're arguing the practicality of urban environments in a series that regularly features bumpers and loop de loos in their highway infrastructure and an abstract land made of music instruments existing in the same world as literally San Francisco. It's not even like City Escape and Music Plant are from two different eras of Sonic. Heck, I'm pretty sure those two games could hook up via GBA/GCN cables!
