Goichi Suda, otherwise known as Killer 7 and No More Heroes director Suda 51, claims that third-party titles for the Wii aren't selling in his home land and that only Nintendo is really profiting from its success.

Speaking about the sales of No More Heroes in Japan, he told us, "Whilst the sales weren't as high as I hoped, other titles for Wii aren't selling so well either. Only Nintendo titles are doing well. This isn't just because of the current situation in Japan, as this is happening outside Japan."

He also expressed surprise over the casual audience that has been the primary adopters of the Wii. "Actually I was very surprised about the reality about Wii, because before I was making this game, I wasn't expecting that Wii would be a console targeted only for non-gamers. I expected more games for hardcore gamers. The reality is different to what I expected".

No More Heroes was released in Japan last year to impressive reviews, but failed to set the retail world alight. It's been reported that on its launch day, it took twenty minutes for someone to buy a copy at a signing, and even then it was a journalist from Famitsu.

The Wii title is released in the UK on February 29. Based on NGamer's glowing review, we hope and pray it does better over here.

Must be why RE4 and RE:UC bombed so bad. Or perhaps it is just that his games don't have a very big audience because I believe Killer7 did poorly as well even though it was on both GC and PS2.

Well hopefully it sells well enough to justify the production and release of more traditional 3rd party games.

The commercial sucked anyway, who introduces a cast that aren't already famous for a video game!? They should stick to a couple of short cinema scenes and a lot of game play with some good music in the background. The should show the potential customer how it is going to look when they are playing. The viewer doesn't give a damn what the name of the characters are in the game, hell 15 seconds after the commercial is over they aren't even going to remember their names.

Keep in mind at one point during the commercial there's a big white Wii remote in the middle of the screen. That'll probably tip off a bunch of people.

Besides, this "commercial" had a 10 second into just for the Ubisoft logo. It's not the final commercial the way it will air on TV.

No More Heroes is "traditional"? LOL

Suda games have always flopped in Japan because they have terrible taste and can't think for themselves. No More Heroes beat Killer 7 at least.

Funny I don't recall saying NMH was traditional but that if it sells well 3rd parties may create more traditional games instead of relying on casual games.

The irony here is that they didn't say any of the characters' names in the commercial at all.

I guess I should have worded that differently. Rather than they "introduced" characters, they showed "static images of the characters" and they did that for too long.

They put the least amount of effort into making that commercial if you can even call it effort. I'm pretty sure the commercial is just an old TGS trailer.
