Yes.

However, the plot was pretty convoluted and felt a bit forced. There’s a lot of “why” that’s missing.

Edit: I’ll also add that the plot in the game makes more sense, but it doesn’t solve the “big” mystery. So, the film working a solution for that into the plot makes sense.

The Hustle - basically every studio avoided releasing a movie immediately after Endgame, but this released last week and it is pretty bad. The movie feels like a string of events along with a bet to get Anne Hathaway in as many costumes as possible.

I don't find Rebel Wilson funny. Her style of physical humour is akin to Kevin Hart's "i'm short and loud" style.

Go Fucking watch John Fucking Wick.

You know...I've never seen any of those movies. Just never got around to them. My dad was the one who always bought what we called the "macho shithead" films.

I'll get around to them eventually, along with that copy of Pacific Rim Uprising that's been sitting on my shelf for a year.

I haven't seen JW3 yet, but John Wick in general is fucking awesome.

Not to oversell it, but it's like the Raid w/ Guns. easiest way to compare it action wise.
I'm looking forward to John Wick 3. might go this weekend.

If you liked John Wick you should also check out the movie Red(2008) not to be confused with the Helen Mirren movie.

Red is about a man who is retired and just want's to fish. Then someone kills his dog Red,  a gift from his late wife. Never kill a mans dog.

Red (2008) Box office: 10,731 USD lol. I might give it a look but JW is more than just a dog. Another JW like is The Equalizer. Nowhere near as good but it has it's charms and the sequel was alright.

Halley Berry is fantastic in JW3, definitely raised her stock. For me it got her out from under Catwomen shadow. She is still a long ways to go before she gets to Charlize's level.

They have managed to hit 3 for 3. Each one as good if not better than the last. I don't know any other 3 movies that has completely avoided sequel decay.

Go Fucking watch John Fucking Wick.

Just watch John Wick. You will have a new appreciation for action and will know what real action cinema is. You will be forever bored of CGI punchman and pissed off with shakey cam quick cut abuse.

John Wick 2 was good because it added a lot of weirdness to the series. Not at all stale. It wasnn't one of those movies where there's repeat in the sequel. After 2 you question what is real.

I found a trailer for Red, but it shows the whole movie. Also, a note. Brian Cox is also in RED.

Changing up the feel with each movie is partly how they avoid sequel decay. It's more of what you love but not. The first is a revenge/crime underworld movie. Second an John Wick FPS/Opera where he isn't stalking his target, he has to bulldoze his way there. The third is a martial Arts movie thick with excellent dark comedy.

Fantastic locations. Great characters who you get to know well enough to be satisfied. No mystery box BS. The mythos, the consistency. The raw physical work put in by all the entire cast gives it a very authentic feel. Keanu really sells the pain, the danger.

I'll See You Tomorrow - 6/10 These kids need to play Starcraft. Their strategies are ****. The first thing you do when you invent time travel is you win the lottery or invest in surefire stocks. If you only have enough power to time travel one day you just bring more time machines with you. A time travel machine is expensive? Win the lottery. buy a warehouse, build 365 time travel machines. Take cash back in time. Pay off the robbers so they don't rob the convenient store

Detective Pikachu - 6/10
It has its moments - some humor, some tender bits, but overall it's a pretty dumb movie. If you're a Pokemon fan, I'm sure you'll love it - but if you're not, you'll probably think it's stupid. CGI is amazing though.

Rocketman

It's really hard not to compare this to the most recent gay-English-musicman biopic that I saw (Bohemian Rhapsody), but I will say this was the better movie.  For one, it's more of a musical, with more full on musical scenes.  Similar to BR, I felt there were a few things missing.  Light spoilers: Elton's first drug use is shown during a musical number, and then he's just kind of an addict.  I would've liked to see more of the story of him trying out different drugs for the first time.

Heavier spoiler: The conflict with his mom towards the end feels a tad out of nowhere. She goes from a negligent parent, to outwardly homophobic, to blaming Elton for running his dad away while trying to extort him for money in like 3 scenes.

Some other things you don't see are him deciding on or picking out his costumes, which felt weird.  But the costumes themselves are cool.  The film is framed around Elton telling his life story in a group therapy session, which I thought worked pretty well.  His life story is also pretty cool.  There's romance, a pretty raunchy sex scene, and some moments that are heavy, but not too heavy.

I will say I'm not as big a fan of Elton John as I am Queen, music-wise, so I'd give it about the same score.  However, I was really high on the music in BR, so the missing plot points stuck out to me a bit more.

7.5/10

John Wick was totally worth it for the fight scene with the "ninjas" at the end, both of which are actors (and stunt actors) involved in The Raid 1 and 2.

I am going to end up seeing John Wick 3 three times at the cinema. Again with father and once more with a friend. I am still excited. This is the only movie I will have gone to repeated viewings at the cinema.

"It was a good fight eh John?". God I loved it when he geeked out.

Just got back from John Wick 3

awesome. HB was great. the scene with the dogs was so fucking good. but why did she train them all to love the taste of man meat!!!? LMAO they just coudln't get enough
the scene on the couch. LOL
and then the fight at the end we all know those 3 could've ended that fight at any time, but they kept fucking around. So glad JW let the 1st two live. The third should've went for the kill too, but nope, he too was too living the experience. too bad he didn't also live

good time at the movie.

Now I'm ready for Brightburn

The whole going below than the belt was such a great running joke. That said I laughed at every joke. This is almost as much of a comedy as action. John's reaction to the boss shooting Sophie's dog, "He shot my dog" "I know", just priceless.

The shotgun reload sliding 2 shells per load and the reloads smoother than ever before was something else, not that JW 2 was a slouch. 2's one handed chamber check still has me smiling.

Also LOLthat last gun fight giving me Payday 2 flashbacks, fucking nothing but bulldozers. This is after the concierge had gun porn these "Serious bullets". That is how you subvert expectations you fucking Hollywood hacks.

I could talk about this movie forever.

I am super glad I gave myself a media black out, to see it as blind as possible. Not a single trailer, took my eyes away as fast as I could whenever I saw Keanu. I would look like a had absolutely no interest. The study saying spoiling the movie increases enjoyment is the highest level of BS, there to excuse sloppy trailers. Why bother going if you already know everything about it. The only titbit of information I couldn't avoid was 1 picture of HB. It's why I have said as little as I have, not even placing the smallest amount of information under spoiler tags till now as I saw it ahead of a good chunk of the world. I want you to have the best experience possible.

If you like action go watch it in the cinema, not going only deprives yourself of one of the GOAT movies that should be experienced on the biggest screen, as loud as OSHA will allow with as many friends as possible.

Just saw Aladdin.

verdict: ignore the haters. Will Smith was fine, it was a different take on the Genie. And trust me, the genie is very Will Smith... as is every enthusiastic character Will Smith plays. The look of the genie is a little weird at first, but you get past it.
the music was fine, it was actually sung by the actors. Will Smith definitely puts his touch on his songs. It's not offputting, it's just different... updated you could say.

Without going into too many details, I think the only thing the movie really lacked was a moment where you were gripped emotionally. That may be because they more or less followed the original story with a few minor changes here or there, but that moment where you just felt the loss or pain of the characters just never reached that level.

long story short, movie was good.
Not great, not amazing, but definitely good. I enjoyed it and I'm recommending anyone who is interested to go see it.

Was it amazing singing.... no.
is the soundtrack gonna win awards... probably not.
but within the movie itself, it wasn't that bad.

I mean, I could nitpick some minor things in the movie that have to do with the song and dance sequences, but within the movie itself, it was overall enjoyable.
If you are annoyed by Will Smith being Will Smith, then you will be annoyed by Will Smith being Will Smith, nothing about this movie is gonna change that, but the movie was entertaining. The song and dance sequences are not oscar worthy, but they weren't that bad, and overall, the movie was fun.

edit: It's not as magical as the original, and even the big moments don't quite grip like they did in the original, but the movie is a better than expected live-make, considering the giant shoes that needed to be filled on this one.

I went in kinda reluctantly with low expectations after initial RT scores - until I read the early batch of "bad reviews" that were on the same page. Most of the early batch of 1 star reviews/impressions were incredibly nit-picky on things that really had nothing to do with the movie itself, or judging a movie they obviously hadn't seen yet based on clips and/or other people's reviews/impressions. So I just decided to see it for myself. The trailers certainly did not sell me on this.
and I'm not telling anyone to grab the entire family and run out to see it, but if you were even slightly interested, go give it a watch. It's not bad.

I'm amazed at how in the entire movie there was only one Guy Ritchie-ism when Aladdin was pushed off into the river it went all slow-mo for a few seconds when his other movies are normally packed full of his style.
