In June, Ashley returns to uncover more mysteries, this time on the Wii.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=18264

Another Code R: A Journey of Lost Memories is the Wii sequel to the 2006 DS title Another Code: Two Memories (known as Trace Memory in North America). It takes place 2 years after the end of the first game, and will once again star Ashley Robins in an adventure involving her past. At the end of her summer holiday Ashley receives an invitation from her father to spend their summer together at Lake Juliet. Ashley then realizes that she has memories of the lake. This unleashes a series of mysteries that she must solve once and for all. Players will explore every corner of the lake, searching for clues, questioning other characters, and solving puzzles in a manner that emulates a mystery novel.

Nintendo has officially dated the game for a European release on June 26th, 2009. There is no word regarding an American release at this time.

ANOTHER CODE R: A JOURNEY INTO LOST MEMORIES BRINGS INTRIGUE TO Wii

Journey into the past through the pages of a mystery, unlocking the dark secrets of Project “Another” and a motherÂ’s untimely death Â…

23 April 2009 – Join teenage heroine, Ashley and travel deep into her memories to unlock the mysterious Project Another – and the truth about her motherÂ’s death – in Another Code R: A Journey into Lost Memories, the immersive and compelling mystery adventure game that comes to Wii on 26th June 2009.

At the end of her summer holiday, 16 year old Ashley, an aspiring musician, receives an invitation from her father, Richard, who has always been curiously distant towards his daughter. He has been absent as he took over from AshleyÂ’s mother to work tirelessly on a memory control system known only as “Another,” the cause of her motherÂ’s untimely death.

In an effort to cement their bond following his protracted disappearance – Richard left Ashley to be brought up by her aunt – father and daughter are to spend a weekend together at Lake Juliet, a camping resort. But, as Another Code R: A Journey into Lost Memories begins to unfold, Ashley discovers that there are a series of mysteries surrounding Lake Juliet. The intrigue deepens as she realises she has been to this resort before Â… she has a dim memory of being here just before her mother died 13 years ago ...

Players of Another Code R: A Journey into Lost Memories must help Ashley solve a series of clues and puzzles, journeying back into her earliest memories to unlock the past.

The story is played as if in the pages of a mystery novel. Ashley must engage with the other characters to follow up the myriad different trails and clues in order to solve the mystery. Journeying through the storyÂ’s digital pages, she will encounter people who clearly know more than they are letting on about the events leading up to her motherÂ’s death, who she will have to interrogate to glean the information she needs.

Players use the Wii Remote to point and click items and characters in the gameÂ’s stunningly portrayed watercolour backgrounds, interacting with them as she travels. Ashley is guided through the gameÂ’s world by clicking the arrows that tell players where she is able to go. Ashley is assisted in her puzzle solving by her DAS, a portable device with which she can take pictures during the game.

By exploring every corner of the world created by the game, collecting items from across it and by combining their intuition and skills in deduction, players will feel like they are themselves characters in a mystery novel as they unravel the secrets of Lake Juliet, AshleyÂ’s family and ultimately, of Project Another itself Â…

Uh oh...

Core Nintendo title, dated for Europe, no American release confirmed... I'm sensing a pattern here.

But all kidding aside I hope this gets announced at E3 or any other event. I really liked the first game and would love to see how the second one does on Wii.

Even though I stick up for Nintendo, I really doubt we will. There is a disturbing trend with NoA not releasing the more "Minor" titles here. Yeah we may get a Wario Land or an ExciteBots every once in awhile but overall it looks like there strategy is to stick with the bigger name titles for Wii.

They don't want to contribute to the idea that Wii is for shovelware and just throw games at the platform.

Niche Nintendo games have to compete with Ubisoft casual kidz games for shelf space.  Nintendo knows business therefore the Ubi games are here to stay, and the niche games get denied at U.S. Customs checks.

I'm sensing that disturbing trend as well. The only glimmer of hope is that the first game was released in the US along with Hotel Dusk, so we could see a release date announced at E3. But we may have another Disaster in our hands if this bombs in Europe...

Can anyone think of any other game which was announced for Europe, and the North American announcement came sometime later?

Mario Kart Wii
I know that it was released first in Europe, but weren't all of its release dates announced at the same time?

I think the North American release date was actually announced first for Mario Kart Wii, then they announced it would be coming out a couple of weeks earlier in Europe.

Game Rankings has 1 review for it so far, something called "Nintendo Life" gave it 7/10 but there was no link.

Given that it seems to be a somewhat thoughtful and slowly paced game, maybe they figure it just won't sell well in a violence/adrenaline-crazed place like the U.S....  :-/

Did other games of this type (on some IGN board, I see "Hotel Dusk" and "Trace Memory" mentioned, though I haven't played either) have particularly bad U.S. sales?

Hmm, the Japanese version is already released!

I think the North American release date was actually announced first for Mario Kart Wii, then they announced it would be coming out a couple of weeks earlier in Europe.

That's the thing. Mario Kart Wii was first announced in the US, even if it got released in Europe first. Another Code R, however, was never mentioned in the US Fall Conference.

I'm sensing a pattern with Another Code that mimics Disaster Day of Crisis. Disaster apparently didn't meet the expectations Nintendo had for the game, so once the game bombed in Japan they decided to use Europe as a testing ground. If it sold well enough it would see its final release in the US. If not, bye bye. Disaster was a flop in Europe and thus we get no Disaster.

Considering that the Japanese release didn't make a dent (apparently the game got a 28 from Famitsu) it seems that once again Nintendo might use Europe to see how it performs.

I think it could still be announced at E3, but I'm not holding my breath.

Last year Hotel Dusk: Room 215 got a re-release from Nintendo (along with a few other DS games like Clubhouse Games), so I assume it got at least decent sales numbers.

I could be mistaken, but I believe Little King's Story was announced in Europe before the US.

Even if I'm wrong, I know it's happened before.  No need to freak out just yet.
