Statistics = Failure?
« on: March 10, 2008, 09:50:53 PM »
Seriously, what's with the crappy statistics in the game?  I don't understand it.

Firstly, local stats in the data area are only half of what they were in Melee.  For example, they rank all the characters stats (KOs) on a cool chart just like in Melee, but you can't get that same chart with the names instead.  What gives?  STUPID.

Secondly, absolutely no stats for online play?  Come ON!  Melee was filled with stats?  Why not give them to us again.

I'm pretty pissed about this actually.

Ha, I still can't read the stats.  For specific reasons, I can't play US Brawl on my Wii right now, so I'm still using the Japanese one on the one we've used the most.

All I know is I want to punch who ever designed the whole menu system for Brawl.

It's absolutely terrible (stats included).

This is more than a nitpick, it's actually pretty major; stats matter much more after the game's been out for a year or eight, and we can track our progress over a decade.

Expecting Nintendo not to royally screw up an online mode is like expecting the tides to not come in; I'm happy with what we DO have, which is fairly significant, if not stupidly a step back from the goddamn Metroid Prime Hunters online mode.

No stats in online mode means LESS IDIOTS, and no morons turning off their Wii before it looks like they might lose. Noone has anything to "prove" now so they can just enjoy proper matches. This is the greatest thing to EVER happen to online gaming.

Lack of local stats is a shame though, I was hoping to see everything from how many times I pressed A to how many times a particular Pokemon came out. Huge disappointment.

I just assumed they would add features later with the "PAY TO PLAY" service. It also looks like all the people on this board  are playing each other so it would be great if we could keep stats...wait... I suck so bad at this game right now. Let stat tracking come after I learned the curve.

Your straw man argument proves nothing. Simply put, the statistics on offer here are less comprehensive than the stats in Melee. That's not a nitpick.

Quoted for total untruth. What's wrong with the menu? At least it doesn't have the delete data option out right in the open like in Melee (not that I accidentally deleted my data, but I had a close call when I wasn't paying attention).
