General Gaming / EA STRIKES BACK!!!
« on: October 11, 2007, 12:47:35 PM »
In tonight's news, Electronic Arts just sealed the deal which is sure to have a "Mass Effect" on the industry.  Purchasing the company that owns and operates Pandemic and Bioware for 775 million.  What does the future hold for these two studios?  Will they thrive under new rule?  Will they become the next Westwood studios?  Will we see Mass Effect 2008, 09, and 2010 on all consoles or will the series even exist in the same form after this release?  Stay tuned...

Nintendo Gaming / Namco Museum Remix
« on: May 17, 2007, 03:55:13 PM »
Galaxian, Dig Dug, Mappy, Xevious, Gaplus, Super Pac-Man, Pac & Pal, Pac-Mania and Cute Q will be in it along with Galaga Remix, Rally X Remix, Pac-Motos Remix, Gator Panic Remix, and what appears to be Pac & Roll taken to the next level.   Pac & Roll would probably be worth it alone, and given that it seems like Namco is actually handling the collection unlike what they did with Mass Media and Digital Eclipse, the old games should be as good as they were on the PSP collection and the new stuff should be equally as good.

Nintendo Gaming / Just got Animal Crossing and having major problems...
« on: February 10, 2006, 08:55:09 PM »
I'm getting bested by error code 86420 everytime I attempt to connect to a town.  Never happened in Mario Kart at all.  Is there anyway to deal with this?  I've been trying for 3+ hours to no avail.  I have a Linksys WRT54G with v.4 firmware installed and WEP enabled.

Update: Apparently only CERTAIN towns can be visited, is there an explanation for this somewhere because I want to get down to the bottom of this.

Nintendo Gaming / The WEP support issue...
« on: November 21, 2005, 09:37:22 AM »
I've been reading a ton of stuff as of late about how WEP is easily bypassed and that's it's not secure in the slightest bit.  I could've swore there was a topic on this at one point in time here and I'm just wondering what's everyone's opinion of the DS only supporting WEP instead of WPA.  Personally, I haven't had any issues regarding security yet, but then again I just bought the AP like 3 days ago and had it running for 2.

Nintendo Gaming / The Sims 2 coming to DS & GBA
« on: April 19, 2005, 06:45:25 AM »

From what I got from this, apparently the DS and GBA games will be vastly different from each other as opposed to The Urbz situation.  The GBA version will be 2D while the DS will get a completely 3D game, which by the way actually looks pretty good IMO.  There are also some game structural differences as well as the fact that the DS version will use the mic and touchscreen.  The big thing here however is that supposedly Maxis is talking about getting the DS game online through Nintendo's Wi-Fi infrastructure.  Any thoughts?

I don't know if anyone around here is interested in buying Retro Atari Classics, but if you were I'd recommend you get Atari Anniversary Advance if you need it bad enough.  I've seen a copy of the game yesterday and all I can say is wow.  You'd think that in this day and gaming age ports of 20+ year old games wouldn't have an issue going over to current hardware, but it seems like guys at Atari thought otherwise.  Asteroids doesn't control well at all.  Centipede looks like it was slowed down and the spider just isn't right.  Tempest doesn't have any of the between stage transitions where you had to avoid the spikes anymore and for whatever reason can ONLY be played with the stylus, which would be fine if it worked.  To make matters worse, the remix versions of these games BLOW.  They look ugly as sin, especially Centipede that replaces the mushrooms with hearts and the creature you controlled with this horrible SpongeBob looking ripoff!

The only good to this game?  If you liked Breakout, you'll love the fact it's probably the most playable version of this game since the old days.

Nintendo Gaming / Concerns about Rayman DS
« on: March 08, 2005, 01:45:01 PM »
If you liked Rayman 2 on the N64 or DC and are looking for a handheld version, I've got some troubling news.  According to IGN, DC Studios (I believe) the studios behind the Rayman 2 port to the DS have been having significant trouble bringing the game over to the DS, with the main issue being framerate.  I don't know too much about DC other than their history on the GB platform.  IMO, I think it just may be first year syndrome, though that wouldn't explain either Nanostray or NFSU2DS which both look and run far better on the DS than the current build of Rayman does.  What do you think, bad port team, the DS, or both?

Nanostray trailer

If you haven't seen it yet, I'd highly suggest you do.  All I can say is that as long as the game plays well, they got my dollar vote cuz man those graphics OWN!
