I think I've asked this before but what is a good photo editing program that is downloadable? All I've got is crappy paint...I think my dad was going to buy a good one but I need one in the mean time.

Try The GIMP. It takes a while to get used to, and it can be buggy under Windows, but it's a good program. Ideally, Photoshop would be best, but it's a commercial program, so you'd have to, ahem, buy it.

I just noticed that the Anime On DVD forums use 100x100 sub-20k avatars, and some of the forum mods set up a website as a repository for board-member designed avatars. They're organized by contributor and series.

There are obviously a lot of really nice anime-themed avatars in there. I'm sure they wouldn't mind other people stealing their avatars, as long as you upload them to Photobucket or your own webspace, and don't leech away their bandwidth.
