Midwest 3DS owners, rejoice!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/34943

Nintendo is expanding Nintendo Zone "in a few weeks," to over 29,000 locations across North America and 25,000 locations throughout Europe.

Nintendo Zone's new StreetPass relay service allows users to StreetPass with the last user to visit that location, which will hopefully allow users to take greater advantage of StreetPass functionality.

In North America, listed retail locations include Best Buy, Simon Malls, Future Shop, Boingo hotspots, and AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots (e.g. Starbucks, McDonalds, Barnes & Noble). Users can visit http://www.nintendo.com/3ds/nintendozone to find nearby locations.

According to Nintendo's map, there are a whopping 2 Streetpass Relays in my area, neither of which will ever see 3DS traffic: my local Kinko's/Fed Ex Office off the freeway and my local Starbucks.  The one place a person carrying a 3DS would go in my town? The Gamestop, which will have no relays whatsoever.  :(

That's not true.  If the Range is good the Kinko one will get a good amount from the Freeway.

What was that you were saying about the service being guaranteed to not work?  :P:

Hey now, Streetpass Relays are different then Nintendo Zones.  Where did you find that list anyways?

I've never had a problem with any of the Nintendo Zones in my area. One is next to the GameStop in here (a Starbucks), and 3 are located at least 2 blocks from where I live. :P  8)

I have a Nintendo Zone in my pocket.  And I'm happy to see you.

Wonder if there will be a way to make your own Nintendo Zone Relay Stations... :D
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

At first, I was excited about this because it means I'll possibly get more streetpasses, but the more I think about it, the less I like it. Streetpass is supposed to be about trading your mii and your ghost data and whatnot, but with this method, the trades only go one way. When I pass the relay station, I get the data from the last person there, but they don't get mine. They got the data from the person prior to them. I don't know why, but this bugs me. Streetpass is about the exchange.

Sweet, 7 near me (4 on a 1/4 mile stretch of the main road I take to the interstate), and almost 20 on the 20 mile square route I travel to work if you can pick them up on interstate.  Those new streetpass games are looking a lot more enticing.
