Nintendo DS climbs Mount Everest
« on: July 09, 2005, 12:47:26 PM »
There's a pretty good article over at gamespy.com titled Mountain Men.

Two guys who were going to climb Mount Everest decided they wanted to bring some entertainment along with them so they called up Nintendo and asked if they wanted to sponsor them.  Nintendo sent them some DSs and a few games.

The guys talk about how all their expensive equipment would break (frozen MP3 players, fried hard drives, imploded transistors, etc) due to the cold weather/low atmosphere but the DSs held up perfectly.  Nice to know I'll be able to take my DS anywhere in the world

The folks Gamespy are dicks.  The second question they asked:  Why not a PSP?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Hardcore people that climb the biggest mountain on Earth do not play wimpy PSP.  Besides, it probably would have broken.
This is really, really cool, by the way.

I think Meteos would be a more appropriate game for a trip to Mars.

"And the one time we did put a game in and it didn't work, we took the cartridge out, blew on it, and it worked. Which is what I used to do with my old Nintendo games, so it was nice to know new Nintendos are like old Nintendos."

LOL

its really awesome to see that the Sherpas who havent seen a computer ever end up liking Mario, further testimony of the greatness of Nintendo's games ( yeah I know that sounded totally fanboyish, but its the truth! )

Who wouldn't like Mario?

Except Wario & Bowser, but that's not the point
