Manifest Destiny just inherently involves rape.

Touché

52
Custer's Revenge is about Manifest Destiny, not misogyny.

I don't give permanent bans, as I like to think most everyone has some good qualities to them.  Except for Spambots.

Must... prove... wrong...

1999:
Dreamcast was released in America.
It continues to be the most impressive console ever created.

Quake III Arena and Unreal Tournament were both released for the PC. So many modern classics owe their very existence to the technology behind those two titles, that we might as well not even mention how great they actually played. It still doesn't get any better than Quake III Arena for competitive shooters to this day.

Bates Motel: It's like Twin Peaks, but with a disgusting rape scene and a tie-in to one of the best movies ever.

Sold.
It looked like a pretty cheap cash-in. I'll give it a look if it is in any way reminiscent of Twin Peaks though.

Two chicks.

Criterion got it right until they cut and run on the PC version, leaving it without many of the near-necessary DLC packs. It sure would be nice to have the "Cops and Robbers" gamemode and the "Big Surf Island" location.

Skullgirls? Pft, we're still waiting for the PC release. They can stuff their DLC characters.

You mean you don't trust EA to do what's right for their customers? :P

Children of the Earth is a masterpiece. The first two seasons were inconsistent, but largely enjoyable. I wouldn't recommend anyone watch Miracle Day though. It started with a wonderful sense of world building, but meandered for far too long before finally throwing a nonsense ending out.

I still have my big GameGear starter kit in the closet. System, carrying case, magnification screen, rechargeable battery pack, etc. That along with the TV tuner and a couple dozen games made for an absolutely great mobile experience back in the day. I never owned a Gameboy because they always looked like junk in comparison. Small screens, monotone picture, clunky ergonomics. They only real redeeming quality the Gameboy had was an apparently longer battery life.

As much as I enjoyed my GameGear, I really wanted a Nomad. ;)

I still have SimCity 2000 installed on my laptop. I still play it now and then, 19 years later. I guarantee that SimCity 2013 will see forced obsolescence long before that. Requiring a server connection in order to gain access to vital game code and even save files is nothing but a scam. EA had already shot themselves in the foot by shoehorning their games into a broken and bloated distribution system like Origin, so I guess they don't have much else to lose.

Origin? Always-on DRM? Forced cloud-based saves?

No thanks. It's junk.

Is that what's in my title?! I'm innocent, I don't even know what a PS3 is! I think some unjust moderator put it there to set me up!

How are these companies supposed to re-sell you digital versions and "enhanced director's cut" versions of the same games if you're still able to simply load the original up? It's mostly a cash grab, but it's also laziness in the way that the hardware is designed.

I'm pretty fond of being able to load up the same copy of Quake and Diablo that I've had since 1996 with no problems at all.

69
And to think, these big companies keep paying off their political-critters to trick you into thinking that net neutrality is bad. You already pay your ISP, you already pay a subscription to Netflix, but now you're expected to also pay Microsoft for the privilege of using your ISP to access Netflix? No thanks.

Xbox Live costing money is a relic of the way the market was 10 years ago.

Pretty much this. Console gamers never really seemed to understand the internet. Probably just another reason that something as great as the Dreamcast was largely ignored by the public. It was too far ahead of its time in many things, and coming with a built-in modem and decent online support was just one.

If your average Joe had his way, we'd all be using AOL again. Most people never leave their glorified portals, whether it be YouTube, Facebook, Xbox Live, etc. The world wide web may be more popular than ever, but the breadth of unique content has shrunk dramatically.

I wouldn't expect much out of Staples. These are copy centers staffed and run by people that barely even have high school diplomas, after all. Besides, the majority of stores are complete pricks about doing anything that could even remotely be copyrighted. Thankfully, home 3D printers continue to drop dramatically in price.

I just watched Spawn the other night as well. Thankfully it was the Director's Cut, so it wasn't quite as terrible as it could have been. Still, it wasn't the film that I remembered it being. Just about every line spoken was cringe worthy, with John Leguizamo being the only redeeming (violating?) quality. None of the effects really hold up at all, but the actual Spawn suit still looked nasty and cool.

I need to dig out the old animated series that HBO ran instead.

Most modern games wouldn't even exist without the work of John Carmack and John Romero. While Carmack is still pumping out some of the best looking engines around, the actual design work at Id has suffered since Romero's departure.

I think you could argue for Sid Meier or Will Wright as third place though. Their products are more niche, but almost always polished to perfection. Furthermore, both seem to try something significantly different with each game.

Given enough make-up and the right dress, I'm sure I can learn to love Oblivion... of course, Valentine's Day is coming up, and the right gift could help me come around quicker. ;)

Cyclops should have always been a villain, instead of just a whiny prick.
