Final Fantasy Tactics Advance A2: Fuketsu no Gurimoa announced!
« on: December 17, 2006, 07:35:28 PM »
Square-Enix continues its string of "Ivalice Alliance" games.

Square-Enix loves Ivalice. As part of their newly announced Ivalice Alliance line up titles and just days after revealing Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSP, Square-Enix announced Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Fuketsu no Gurimoa for the Nintendo DS (Tentatively translated as “Sealed Cave of Gurimoa" for now).

According to Famitsu.com, the Ivalice Alliance lineup includes Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSP, and the newly announced Seal of Gurimoa for the DS.

question, is FFTA A2 based off anything like say FFTA or is it completely original?  If it is a sequel to the GBA one im okay if it is original, im still okay but if it is based off of the new FF games i think i will barf.

lol, i wonder how Sony feels right about now? I'm gonna take a guess they are in the denial stage, lol.

Yes, I'm anal.  "It's" (with an apostrophe) is "it has" or "it is".  When you mean possessive, it's "its" (with no apostrophe).  Yes, that's different from specific subjects' possessive form (like Bob's or Jane's) but I didn't make the English language.

Shouldn't it be "Final Fantasy Tactics DS"?  When a game with "Advance" in its title moves to the DS it ought to be.  You know, like it should've been "DS Wars".

Wow, I'm on an anal streak today.  I'd better stop.  >_<

Only once in all my education has a teacher actually taught this.  It was Grade 9 or 10 English class and I got the question wrong on a grammar test and attempted to defend what I thought was a test marking error.  Prior to that I always assumed "it's" was correct because if you weren't told otherwise why would you assume it was wrong?  It follows the standard possessive rule.  I've tried to do it the correct way since but no else one has ever brought it up.  I don't think it's being taught.  Hell I don't think some English teachers even KNOW about it.

I agree.  It's like NOA doesn't know why the game was called "Advance Wars" in the first place.  But then they probably just figured that the name isn't such that it HAS to be specific to the GBA and could work as the overall franchise name.  They probably think having a consistent name would make more better brand recognition.  Still "Advance Wars" kind of sounds like Engrish.  In wars you advance towards the enemies.  Thus you're participating in Advance Wars... I guess.

If you think about it game names in general can be pretty dumb out of context.  All those SNES games with "Super" in the title don't have a very logical name if you port them to another system.  Does "Super Metroid" really make much sense?  How about "Super Castlevania IV"?

Yes, that's different from specific subjects' possessive form (like Bob's or Jane's) but I didn't make the English language.

It's in line with "his" and "her", though. The its/it's confusion is one of the three markings of a native English speaker, the others being their/there/they're and then/than. Non-native speakers rarely get those wrong.

It's like NOA doesn't know why the game was called "Advance Wars" in the first place.

I think they knew but calling a game that the west was first exposed to on the GBA "NES Wars" would look strange and properly adjusting the system name would cause brand confusion because the buyers may not have noticed that the word before Wars is supposed to refer to the system it's on.

All those SNES games with "Super" in the title don't have a very logical name if you port them to another system. Does "Super Metroid" really make much sense? How about "Super Castlevania IV"?

How about Super C?

I don't like the logo they are using, it looks cheap and stupid.
