Not sure if this has been posted yet:

NGamer Review
"OK, first we need someone to complain about something trivial. Golden or S_B should do. Then we get someone to defend the game, like Bill or Mashiro. Finally add some Unclebob or Pro666 randomness and the thread should go to hell right away." -Pap64

is it a negative review? because if it isnt, there's no point in reading it. everyone expects this game to be praised so why bother reading lol

The complaints about the out of mission free-roaming city bits are making me slightly hesitant to go out and buy this immediately.

Think of the free-roaming city as a hub (like in the 3D Mario games) and not as the city in a GTA game and you'll be fine.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

If the issue is really as superficial as "omg it's not GTA," then you're right, I don't really care.

I had gift cards from Toys R Us and Target from Christmas, so I went out to these two stores today looking for the game.  Neither store had the game in.  Both stores, however, had someone over the age of 50 running the video game department who had never heard of the game.  Toys R Us told me they get their shipments in at 4:30, and I couldn't get any information out of the guy at Target because there was a couple behind me literally screaming to the guy AS I WAS TALKING TO HIM asking if they had any Guitar Heroes.  At that point, I just walked away.

Why are video game release dates so wildly variable?  If I want to buy a DVD, I know I can walk into any store on Tuesday morning and find it.  Same thing with CDs.  But for video games, if the ship date is Monday, some stores will get them early on Friday, some stores will have them Tuesday after 6pm, some will have them Wednesday after 3pm, some will never get them at all.  It's really frustrating.

Anyway, I guess I'll go back to Toys R Us tomorrow to get this game.

I've played up to where I just beat Dr. Peace.  The camera was a bit troublesome in close quarters.  Each character ooze such style it's really a shame you usually have to kill them right after you meet.  The motion controls are well executed since they are only used as finishing moves or for wrestling moves it feels right.  So far the dialogue has been pretty damn hilarious.  I really don't want to put this game down but I need to study today.  Hopefully S_B will have better impressions then I did.

That's not really my issue.  That article talks about developers and publishers pushing release dates around to accommodate production delays and the like.  My gripe is with: a) the lack of a universal release date for video games (like Tuesday for CDs and DVDs) and b) the unreliability of a release/shipping/whatever date compared with the in-store date, which can vary by as much as five days between game stores, big box retailers, and specialty stores.

If I really wanted this game, I would go to Gamestop, even though I keep telling myself I'll never go back there, due to various issues with their customer service.  Since I'm not sure how much I'll like it, considering that I didn't really like Killer 7, I figured I would support a third-party game and buy it with one of my gift cards.  Which didn't work.

Picked it up today, and am pleasantly surprised. I played the tutorial, first 'level' and did the first side job.

Suda and Co. from Grasshopper take their cues from Killer 7 again by thrusting the player right into the thick of it.  Gameplay takes some cues from Zelda, as well as its own original spin. The motion controls are subtle, but not tiring. Grasshopper was right not to go for complete motion control. You do have to pay attention to where your Wiimote is, since their are two stances: High and Low. You'll have to coordinate your attacks accordingly.

The frame rate goes from 60 fps to 30 fps, and sometimes a little below that. Its a shame really, but not too detrimental. Colors are bright and vivid running in progressive scan.

The audio makes good use of Dolby Pro Logic II if you have it, but stereo is fine. And yes, the first time Silvia called my wiimote, I was taken aback how it vibrated, and how she began to talk when I put to my ear. The voice acting so far is over-the-top, but thankfully not so-bad-its-good. Silvia's faux French accent makes it difficult to understand her at times, but there's subtitles if needed.

Its presentation so far will definitely bring a smile or chuckle to gamers who've been around since the pre-NES and NES era. Also, Suda's brand of humor and odd-ball style are front and center, which judging from reactions to Killer 7, will be take it or leave it. Saving on the toilet FTW.

Those waiting this long this already have it, or will get it shortly. As for the rest, rent it first, see if No More Heroes is right for you.
