The light of hope shines all over the place.

Following the re-release of Harvest Moon 64 earlier this year, the Harvest Moon series will continue its anniversary celebrations with a new entry on the Switch.

Harvest Moon: Light of Hope was announced today and features an unnamed player who has to help rebuild a harbor town after his ship is wrecked by a storm. The game is meant to be a callback to the series's SNES roots.

No release date has been announced for the game as of yet, but the game will be playable at the E3 expo next month.

Not interested in fake Harvest Moon, especially with Stardew Valley on the way.

Agreed, though it is interesting that they are trying to callback to the series' roots. This may be in direct response to the growing competition provided by the true Harvest Moon developers and Stardew Valley.

My money is set for Stardew on Switch, so I hope that arrives soon.

I wonder if following the nostalgic play isn't a mistake at this point for them.  All my friends are heavy on the Stardew Valley, to the point where all the Switch owners among us will probably double-dip on a copy.

Then again, I haven't played any of the Harvest Moon games past SNES, so I haven't been their target market for a while.  I just figure unless they have a way to truly push the quality of this type of farm sim past what Stardew does, it's going to seem like an also-ran and I don't personally have time for two of the same type of game of this ilk in my life, when the whole premise of the game is to get to the highest level of productivity in it.
