Was hearing reports that EBGames was taking pre-orders if you went to the store in person. Went there during my lunch break. There was a bit of a line. As the line moved on and I got to the till, I asked if I could still preorder one. The employee checked some list and said that I could and then made an announcement to the people standing behind me that this would be the last preorder they could take. The store was allotted 30 consoles and I was number 30. A few people left the line who had come in after me hoping to get one. That felt a bit awkward. In the end, though, glad I was able to snag a copy and it was much better than always hearing pre-orders are up on a site only to go to it and find I was too late. May want to check your local EBGames if in Canada on the off-chance they still have a pre-order quantity available. Otherwise, Amazon.ca and Walmart.ca are your last preorder hopes for whenever they launch. From there, it is camping out a store and hoping they have some available, I suppose.
I wasn't really involved in the NES Classic scene last year or trying to acquire one but I get the sense that there does seem to be a larger amount available for pre-orders with the SNES Classic than the NES Classic. That said, the supply is still constrained and there are plenty of people looking for some right now and there's a good chance some people are buying multiple copies in hopes of secondhand sales further adding to the current demand.
