RFN returns to extensive form with an episode that has everything you've come to expect from the crew, except for the silky tones of our new Site Director Jon Lindemann (who was actually being fitted for his crown at the time of recording, and so couldn't make it). Guest Jared Rosenberg makes his RFN debut, only to have his New Business concerning Wario Land Shake It! trampled over as we all queue up to profess our love for its underappreciated greatness. Elsewhere, Jonny enjoys an unexpected encounter with Dragon Quest Swords, and Greg takes an accidental look back at the all-too-brief career of Viewtiful Joe.

After a gender-confused discussion of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse takes us through DLC Mondays, we look once again at your questions in Listener Mail, including: thoughts on the prospects for Wii MotionPlus' adoption rate, and the apparent indifference of Japanese developers to the dominant console in their native land. Finally, the crew closes with a reflection on the end of an era with the sale of the 1UP Network and closure of EGM, paying respects in particular to the podcast pioneers of 1UP Yours.

Next week, we'll be discussing our first RetroActive feature title, Dynamite Headdy. Join the discussion in our forums, and your feedback can make it into RFN 131!

I won't be able to download this until tonight, but did I miss announcements of staff changes, or is this podcast the announcement?

EDIT:  Nevermind.  Through EXHAUSTIVE research, I have found the article on the front page detailing these changes.  Belated congrats in the wrong thread, Lindy!

From the Castlevania Wiki: (http://castlevania.wikia.com/wiki/Sypha_Belnades)

Quote
Sypha Belnades (ja. サイファ・ヴェルナンデス Cipher Fernandez) is a sorceress from Konami's Castlevania series. She appears as a playable character in Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, which was published on the NES in 1990. Sypha is a magic user who attacks with a weak staff and three elemental spell books that allow her to cast powerful spells.

The english version of the Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse's instruction manual refers to Sypha as a male, leading to confusion of Syphas gender early on. This confusion lead to Syphas male appearence in a Captain N episode.

This is probably a dumb question, but what is Jared's forum name? Us forum dwellers need to have this information.

I'm totally down with the borrowing of ideas from the 1up podcasts.  They totally under represent the Wii.  Which lead me to find Radio Free Nintendo.  The 1up podcasts were great, so add a Nintendo focus and you have something I'll really enjoy.  RFN is something I always look forward to as much as, if not more than, something like 1upyours.

If I could run an ad on Rebel FM, it would basically say: "Radio Free Nintendo is just like this show!  ...except we talk about Nintendo."

Player One Podcast is also just like Rebel FM, but with much more Nintendo focused talk.  Phil Theobald, the regular host, doesn't really have much interest in shooters like Gears 2 or Resistance, and is always talking about the Wii and DS.  Along with RFN, POP is pretty much a must listen, every week.

It's always humbling and flattering to hear how many people enjoy the podcast.  When we record it, it's very easy to think that only your buddies are going to listen to it.

I know this is late, but I only just listened to this podcast. I would like to answer the Konami/Hudson Soft thing since you guys didn't seem to be sure. Konami purchased Hudson Soft a few years ago, so they own Hudson. They continue to basically operate independently of each other though (the same way Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Online Entertainment are basically the same company as they are both just divisions of Sony, but they operate as seperate entities).
