My thoughts on the 2DS...
« on: August 29, 2013, 10:41:24 AM »
I actually like the idea behind the 2DS. I can't see the 3D effect anyways, and I hate using parental controls just to disable it. The design of the system looks more comfortable than the original 3DS, and the lack of a hinge means it will be more durable. My current 3DS has a cracked hinge, so this is a perfect replacement.

And the $120 price is a great value.

Curious - what's wrong with using the slider to turn 3D off?  It's what I use.

But, even then, what's wrong with using the parental controls?  Isn't it a one-and-done thing?  You don't have to set it for every title, do you?
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

I think the design could use a few tweaks, but removing a consistently fragile piece of the hardware (hinges) was probably one of the smartest design decisions they made for the 2DS.

And as you mentioned, that $120 price points will help this thing sell like crazy.
