Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman will duke it out with villains on Wii U in 2013.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/30363

Injustice: Gods Among Us, a fighting game based on the DC Universe and developed by NetherRealm Studios, is coming to Wii U in 2013.

The game pits DC heroes against villains, and features a roster including Batman, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Harley Quinn, and Solomon Grundy.

NetherRealm is no stranger to the DC Universe, having made Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe in 2008. The company's most recent game was Mortal Kombat, which just came out on Vita.

Here's hoping it doesn't play like those god awful MK games. The most recent one is okay at best.

I thought the most recent Mortal Kombat was a pretty incredible game, myself, and I'm not the world's biggest fighting game fan.

Well, given the incredible amount of work and effort that NetherRealm put into Mortal Kombat's story mode, I hope they plan on doing one just as good or better for this game.  I wonder how much violence they'll be allowed to get away with due to the DC license, considering how badly age restrictions apparently hurt them in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

Neat. It is my understanding that the guys at NetherRealm have a good pedigree with one-on-one fighting games. And on Wii U, I can already see the value of having button sequences for combo attacks listed on the tablet controller. The last game in this style that I played was Tatsunoko vs Capcom and like many in the genre before it, the need to pause constantly to look up special moves got be a real nuisance. If I can have them on my periphery, ready to glance at on moment's notice, it would be much appreciated.

I'm not a huge fighting game fan but I liked the new Mortal Kombat and was hoping it would be ported to the Wii U with some extras, like how Shao Kahn and Goro were playable in the GCN version of Deception. I hope this game turns out well and that Harley Quinn is voiced by Arleen Sorkin.

It shouldn't since it's not tied to Mortal Kombat anymore. Most fighting games are rated T so whatever garners that rating is  about what I expect here.

What's with the completely redundant abbreviation in the article? You either have DC or Detective Comics, you can't write 'DC Comics' because you are actually writing 'Detective Comics Comics' which is just silly! Arrrrhghhh if anyone needs me I'll be in the angry dome!!

I included the Comics moniker in the title to make it perfectly clear what it referred to. For most people, it's a no-brainer what DC refers to, but not for everyone.

As much as I hate it - "DC comics" is the proper name.  Just check out their new logo that reads "DC DC Comics"...

This, along with all the Infinite Worlds Crisis whatever, was why I was a Marvel kid.

Yeah, I think in the west, we haven't really nailed how to make good fighting games.  Hello Marvel: Rise of the Imperfects.  Hello DC vs. Mortal Kombat.  Hello War Gods.   Hello Pit Fighter.   I can go on all day.

Oh yeah, I know I have 2 sealed copies of that game.   1 is for trading.  But people who collect Amiibos?  They really have a problem!

Sorry, I see in my comment that it sounded like I was mostly annoyed at the writer, but the situation in general is what angers me. I have sent too many angry emails to DC and yet they still choose to go by the moniker 'Detective Comics Comics'. It's almost as though my opinion as someone who has never bought any DC merchandise, doesn't matter to them...

Not feeling it since it's done by the MK guys and I'm more of a Tekken and Street Fighter style guy myself.  They play smoother.

DC fighting game, huh? I remember playing this on my Sega Genesis back in 1996. It was fun!

Only then it was called "Justice League Task Force."

In the past that may have been the case, but I was looking over at MetaCritic and the most recent Mortal Kombat has the same or better score than any fighter Japan's produced in the past year or two.  And in sheer terms of features and polish, I'd put Mortal Kombat over any fighter Capcom's made in the past few years and on par with Ark System Work's BlazBlue series. I just think we've largely conceded the genre to the Japanese because other genres are more popular here.

Here you are, kind sir. A friend posted this on Facebook so that's how I saw it. I don't typically go to Gamespot.com so if there are ads everywhere or it's super slow, I apologize.

Edit: I just watched the trailer again, this time on a computer (earlier was on my phone). I had no issues with the site. Should be good to go.

I enjoyed MK vs DC on simple level when it came out.

Flash (leaning over Batman after beating him down): I thought you were a great martial artist!
Batman: I am. (pulls out stun gun and zaps Flash unconscious)
