I finally finished Zelda: Oracle of Hours!
« on: April 01, 2008, 02:12:34 AM »
Can't really compare it gameplay-wise to Oracle of Ages or Oracle of Seasons, it's been so long.

But I mapped it as I played it so it's fun to compare them that way.  Completion of the Triforce Trilogy FTW!

Which of those three is your favorite?  Now that I think about it, Hours had way too many puzzles...  :/

I'm not sure what the Oracle Of Hours is...  It has been nearly 7 years. What am I forgetting?

Is this something that fans finished or was it like Star Fox 2, nearly finished but never released? I remember that the third game wasn't released because of problems in linking between 3 games.

Nice touch to put death as the boss of the clock tower... Could've worked the Dracula's Throneroom stairs in there somehow tho.

Nice job.  I really like the Hourglass Pyramid in particular.  I like all the day/night changes, although it seems to me that there aren't quite as many as there were in the real games.  So far I've noticed the tide, the giant lily pads, open graves in the cemetery, all the doors being closed, the tree being asleep, and sand vortexes in the desert (giant ant lions that are only active at night, I take it), but what's the deal with the rocks in front of the dungeon in the desert?

Upon reading the title of this thread, I was ready to respond by calling you a noob for getting the title wrong, but judging by those pics, I am glad to know that you are, indeed, not a noob. In fact, I would venture to say that not only are you not a noob, but rather, you are an expert at creating false maps for fake Game Boy Color games. I'm not sure how that skill is practical or useful in the real world, but kudos either way.

Speaking of the title, I think it could use some work.  That's my only criticism.  It just doesn't sound very cool.  It's clear that the time of day is important in the game, and following the pattern from the other Oracle games, I assume the player is supposed to have some control over it.  Perhaps with some sort of phantom hourglass.

Ooh, what if you could enter people's dreams at night?  Then you could call it Oracle of Dreams.  That would sound pretty cool.

So we've had that Metal Gear one, this one.. and.. I forget which other one.

Great job as usual though.

Let's recap:

2005: The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening Advance
2006: Mega Man Solid X: Guns Of The Mavericks
2007: Super Kid Icarus
2008: The Legend Of Zelda: Oracle Of Hours

Thanks for your comments!

After over a year of work, it would be nice if I got more hits out of it...Wikipedia and GoNintendo don't think it's worth mentioning.  ;_;

GoNintendo [doesn't] think it's worth mentioning.  ;_;

On one hand, you really shouldn't judge your merit by what GoNintendo thinks.

On the other, ouch.  GoNintendo thinks everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) even semi-Nintendo related is worth mentioning.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!
