Bloody Zelda?
« on: May 13, 2005, 10:37:11 AM »
Would you want the new LoZ to be like God of War?

Would you prefer the Zelda nudity?

Not to mention the massive amount of blood.....

Are you really that shallow?

The shadow temple was really creepy in OoT, it had skulls all over, falling guillotines, blood, even some torture devices, why? because it suited that particular temple. Im confident that if Aunoma and team put blood in the game, it will be for good reason, not to please annoying teenagers...

but... you know, theres like a whole thread about the game just above.

I will not complain about blood as an atmospheric presense, a la the Shadow Temple example, but enemies (outside plants) bleeding would be unacceptable...Nudity? NO...I'll stick with the low-key sexual innuendo...

I think I would actually laugh out loud if I were playing and after rescuing the princess she took off her top.  It would seem so out of place in the Zelda universe that I just couldn't help it.

After that though, I would cry.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

As long as Nintendo has the guts to release it in Germany even with blood I don't mind. God of War wasn't released here because SCEE si teh kidie (they didn't want to taint their "family friendly image"). I honestly couldn't care less whether Zelda uses blood or big flashes but I prefer to have some hit feedback.

I played a demo of God of War for like three minutes before deciding that it was really stupid. Just another example of how people are really just buying the big "M" on the cover instead of the game.

I totally agree with you.....most people thought that just because a game has an "M" on it...it's good....

It is simply because games like GTA and Half Life 2 (which are in fact good) have an M on them....

Though I must agree...when an M game is out, it is like that game has a 50/50 chance of selling well...unless that game has a huge fanbase...then the stakes are 70/30.

It is all a matter of overdoing it.....take Killzone for instance....

God of War has nudity? LMAO. I hate these morons trying to make games into movies. 'Games are art!' Um...no...they're GAMES. Morons. But seriously, it has nudity?

Apparently so. That sells movies, so why not games that try to be movies?

In my humble, ignorant opinion, games are art if they are trying to do something new, and not simply emulating other established mediums. Pikmin 2, to me is the pinnacle of any recent game for impressing me mechanically, visually, aurally and emotionally while still regarding itself as a lowly video game.

Considering it's a game about Greek mythology, and Greek mythological sculptures and paintings show the gods with minimal clothing, I think I have an idea of the context of the nudity in the game...

Yeah but I doubt they included nude men.

Anyway, claiming God of War is only liked because of the blood is stupid, it wouldn't have 94% on Gamerankings if it was just a shallow hack&slay game. And in a move that will piss Bill off infinitely, the main character is called Kratos.

You know what would sell is if Link saw Zelda and pitched a tent.  Man every kid would have to buy that game.

Nintendo could cover their ass by making it fairly subtle.  Possibly making it a sort of optical illusion.

Do a few similar things with Zelda and her nipples and boom you doubled sales.

Nudity in Zelda?
That's the same as Mickey Mouse getting laid in Kingdom Hearts or as in Sick and Hell No!!!
Although I can understand why this would come about(the natural evolution of the series, it must grow up at some point) I don't believe it to be an enhancement for gameplay, storytelling, art direction or emotional connection, so no, not in my zelda game. And don't give Mario a gun either.

The "sex sells" argument lost his ground when you realize that E rated movies can easily make more money than R rated ones. Of course that sex sells, but that doesnt mean its necesary for the game to has it in order to be succesfull.

Don't they pack heat already? You know, fire flower power and all... :P

Though technically FLUDD could be considered a gun. Well, more of a super soaker really, but still.
