Tales of Symphonia(spelling?)

ok ive read lots of exciting news about this game today but the thing is they only mention a release date for Japan.  is this going to be a japan only rpg because this game looks really promising.  is this game coming out in the U.S. this year?

I gotta say thats one ugly looking cube...couldnt they have thought up something better? Like red (to go with the new gba sp) or maybe a deeper green.

Not at this point. And the action is much like Star Ocean in fights.

For sure! It's not often a big company chooses GC over PS2 for a traditional RPG! I'll pre-order this little gem as more information streams into my brain.

Only bad thing, knowing Namco, this game won't see the light of day in Europe till at least 2059

i personally cant wait for this game
the newer battle system looks great- it is basically going to run like the other tales series battle systems but on a 3d plane
you choose the enemy you go after and it forms a 2d plane locked on to that enemy- that is your movement space
you then can attack and use your magic- the battle system is basically in real time
hopefully it will be a good rpg- it looks great thus far
i call the big one bitey.

Hmmm... that's a long time...  At least we are finally getting it.  I am still a little ticked off that Tales of Phantasia never made it over here back in the day.

Alternatively you could use the manual fighting mode where you do what you want, which makes it (ToD 2, ToP psx remake afaik) MUCH easier to play.

atma- you are right about those games but i havent heard anything on that feature for symphonia
i dont doubt that will be in there though- it does make it a little easier
but from all the videos i have seen, you create a 2d plane locked on an enemy and then attack
hopefully they will implement the full movement but we shall see

Maybe, but maybe not. I hope we get it reasonably fast, though I think we'll be waiting anywhere between 3 months - 2 years.

Let's see the positive side: The US is just a testing area, the PAL territories get the bug-free versions...

Xenosaga episode 1 was what?  8.5GB on PS2?

No way Namco would port it to GC.  That would take as much a 6 discs.

(Is reminded of 4 - 6 disc games on PSX)

GameCube has better compression techniques than the PS2 though.  If Namco were to spend some time with the port, they could get the size down to about 6GB at least.  That's only like 4 discs.

Btw, wasn't Monolith supposed to be making us an exclusive RPG?
