I've never had a pleasent or even neutral experience with voice recognition.  I really hope this doesn't become the next fad for gaming.  Karaoke games are okay but if we have to start telling the character on the screen to "go left" or "shoot that zombie" it's going to be a jamboree of frustration for anyone who mumbles, speaks too fast, is too quiet or has an accent.

I think the level of AI I would consider acceptable for voice recognition would be so advanced that you could use it in robots.

Recently, some old fogey named Chris Crawford came and gave a lecture at my school and his personal opinion was that voice-recognition, GOOD voice recognition, that took advantage of all the computing power of today's computers, would be the next big thing.

Voice recognition will never be big to me.  Am I the only one who feels weird talking to inanimate objects?

The next generation won't feel weird Smoke39. In some ways, I'm ALREADY outdated. I can't multitask that well, I'm not on myspace, and one of my pet peeves is my brother voice chatting because all I hear is one side of a very EMO conversation. Blargh.

If its on par with IBMs voice technology it may be good.  IBM is suppose to have ~90% without training and 95% with last time I saw something.

I'm all for more karaoke games on Wii.  Not so interested in voice-commanded games.  I wish this tech supported online voice chat.

Voice chatting? Wouldn't that be the same as... a telephone call?

BUT HE'S NOT HOLDING A PHONE!!! HE'S ON THE FRIGGIN' COMP!!! AAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!

If he were to hold a phone at least I can segment it off in my mind, but voice chat is WAY TOO CONVERSATIONAL! I'm always feeling the absence of the suggested other person... I ... I... guh.
