Coming this June to Japan, Band Bros. DX for Nintendo DS will feature fifty instruments and over one hundred downloadable tracks.
 http://nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=15721

Famitsu Weekly has just revealed that Nintendo has been working on yet another Band Bros. title for Japan. Band Bros. DX is set to be released June 26 for the Nintendo DS.

According to Famitsu, Band Brothers DX will feature more than 30 classical and J-Pop tracks, with an additional 100 tracks available as downloadable content. Players will have 50 instruments at their disposal, one of which is the NES. A guitar featured in the game will playable with a strumming gesture on the DS touch screen, and all of the songs both on the cartridge and downloaded will feature a karaoke singing mode.

In addition to the single player mode, a local jam mode will be available where up to six different people can rock out together.

Currently there is no word on release outside of the Japanese market.  The original Band Brothers, also known as Jam With the Band, was never released in Western territories.

F*CK YEAH!!!!

The original is one of my favorite DS games, so this should be great.  The only problem is I wish I knew how to really create music in the game.  I tryed puting something together but it just ended up terrible.

I rather get both versions if this gets localized.  Seriously my favorite game on the Ds HANDS DOWN.  30 + 100 DLC songs is ridiculously awesome.  Luigi Dude if your not good with composing music you can always take some of your fav music and translate it in the game adding more songs.

Would the DLC even work if you imported it?

Good point.  What we would need is a vast network of computers that covered the entire world.  That would be some tough infrastructure to pull together.  If they could do it, I think they should call it the Internet.

Sorry, I had to take this opportunity to be sarcastic to the forum king of sarcasm and meaness.

Why wouldnt the DLC work?  The fact that we can play Japanese Ds games online using their servers over here should prove it to work just fine.

I'll admit, that was pretty funny.

I only asked about DLC because VC games are locked out of certain territories (for example, you couldn't download TG-16 games in Australia for the first several months of the system's life).

Well, is this for real downloadable contents, or Professor Layton-style "downloadable" content, where you're simply downloading keys to unlock the content?

And how do you do that?  I just go into the music composing mode and once I see all the option I just get lost.  The fact that I can't read Japanese makes matters worse as I just push whatever option I see until I get to the notes.  Then I try putting the notes together but I'm not sure what I'm doing and it just falls apart from there.

You'd think with all the Music-Game crazy going on right now, this would be a common sense US release.

Look around gamefaqs for a translation guide.  I only needed one quick read to get the hang of it, and in no time I made a (not so) sweet version of the clock town theme from majora's mask, and more recently the twilight princess trailer song.  Making music is tedious work though, and while you don't need to be a musical prodigy or anything you at least need a pretty good understanding of reading music since you're placing notes directly on the staff.

Anyway the first band bros is the best multiplayer game on the DS in my opinion, if not the best game on the DS overall.  Worth the import price and then some (can't say that about Ouendan though....)

I'm definitely keeping my eyes on this.

Band Bros. is probably the best value I've ever gotten out of a game, save for perhaps Melee. I almost always play a few songs on any travel, and fooled with the composer quite a bit.  I like this game because the note you play is the note you hear, so I'm not too keen on guitar strumming that likely will not hold true to that design.

Find a cheap or free composer program on the web that will translate midi songs to music sheets.  Go to www.vgmusic.com or any other place that has video game music midis and choose a song you want to add.  Convert the music to sheet music and figure out 8 or less parts that you want to add to the game.  Once you figure out the tools of the composer its just as easy (AND TEDIOUS) to input the sheet music into the game and BAM you got extra tracks.  I think you can add up to 8 extra songs at a time as well so that a lot of good stuff.

Well, is this for real downloadable contents, or Professor Layton-style "downloadable" content, where you're simply downloading keys to unlock the content?

I am going to assume they actually mean download like Picross Ds.  The fact that they had an expansion to the game makes me believe this and even on the expansion they had limited space.  Easily Ds game of the year if they treat the sequel with the same or more effort from the first.

I've always wanted to play Jam With The Band, but was afraid to pick it up because I can't read Japanese, is it easy to pick up and play? Everything I've ever read about it sounds great, it would be nice to see a US release!

Personally I thought it was pretty easy to pick up and play. Enough screwing around with the menus and you eventually figure all of the options out.

Well, it's the only game I've ever bothered importing. Unfortunately, the main reason I got it (the composer) confused the crap out of me. I guess I really just need to go read a translation FAQ. Even so, the main mode is really fun.

What would be awesome is if you could import your musical creations from Elektroplankton into this game. Now if only I could hunt down a copy of Elektroplankton...

I never even had Band Bros. 1 on my radar until Windy broke the single card multiplayer out at E3 06.  I imported it almost immediately after that.

It's an awesome music game.  I'm hoping that Wii Music will use a similar mechanic and song list so it will rock just as much.
