I really have nothing to say, since I need to see a video of this thing in action. Anyone can make a lifelike model, but I need to see it in motion before I believe that we're all doomed.

No surprise that a Japanese scientist would create a WOMAN android. The otaku jokes just write themselves.

Do these scientists watch science fiction movies? One of the first rules of sci-fi is that androids that can successfully impersonate a human being is a very bad idea. This is like a while back when armed guard robots that can make their own decisions were invented. Ever seen the first ten minutes of Robocop? Terminator 2? The Matrix? We've created warnings against making robots before we've created robots. You figure that we would, I don't know, avoid the mistakes we've already pointed out.

Personally I'm dreading the inevitable robot rights movement. I'm not even sure what my opinion on that issue would be.

another small step by man another gaint leap for mankind

I been dieing to say that for years

Ian killer robot will only happen if we use law 3. 1 do what your told 2 dont kill people 3 dont kill your shelf unless 1 or to 2 need you to. 3 is bad thinkng for robot because they might think what so specily about human and start killing people. and robot can over ride the law like in robot cop 3.

Think 30 more year there be sex bot or we go to mars witch ever come 1st.

I don't see the point of making it look more human. It's trying to pull a veil over the fact that it is not, in fact, that realistic. That it's a bunch of pieces. Like Miyamoto has said before, it's better to have something that feels realistic and that you can relate to rather than something that looks exactly like it should. It can't walk. The robot from Short Circuit, despite looking less human, is more human than this. It's basically a cop-out.

I agree with Hostile Creation, we dont need humanoids robots, the only use I can see of them is publicity or entertainment, but I dont see that android cleaning my house or building cars, its just too ineficient, to much money invested in something that can be done way cheaper with more specialized robots.

and I find the fact that they also made a 5 year old girl robot a bit creepy to be honest.

Uh oh....said it wrong, just as neil armstong did. It was meant to be "One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind" but he didn't say it correctly......One of the greatest blunder of all time...

Wasn't that just a transmission error? I thought Armstrong DID say "a man" but the communication blipped out for a split-second, leaving it out...

Hate to correct you but it's a big surprise. I'm surprised it's not a little school girl like the most popular "dutch wives" over there. No, I'm not going to link that (can't give you any effective google keywords either, the company's called "Orient Industry").

On the project site of another android project they reasoned that a woman is less "intimidating" than a man, they might be right to a degree.

But hey, perhaps Megatokyo's Ping will be reality by the time the PS4 hits...

You can short "Persocon" to PC because that's what the word means

. And Chobits illustrated what the Japanese think of the PS2: "Did you know that DVD player can play games too?"

Either way, I wouldn't mind if my PC could do all those chores for me
