I don't see the point of making it look more human. It's trying to pull a veil over the fact that it is not, in fact, that realistic. That it's a bunch of pieces. Like Miyamoto has said before, it's better to have something that feels realistic and that you can relate to rather than something that looks exactly like it should. It can't walk. The robot from Short Circuit, despite looking less human, is more human than this. It's basically a cop-out.
