The game got bought for me and I quickly sold it for whatever I could get for it. Everything about the game was terrible. Take a quick peek at how gameplay played out if you haven't already. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP-L2aoaBfE

It just makes me laugh to look back at that.

Long time fans may know that this is not the first RS game on a ship. The Game Boy Color game Resident Evil: Gaiden (where you play as Barry Burton) take place on a ship. I am following development of the game, I hope it turns out good.
Oh I remember it alright TJ...but I try to forget too. While I commend the teams for their attention to detail and insanely realistic environments...I can't help but feel like some of the best moments experienced were on land. What's next an amusement park so we can all go on roller-coasters? So long as the action and story is there I'll shut up and enjoy the ride.

I wouldn't rule out NetFlix. I would prefer a downloadable or movie streaming service rather than having to lug cartridges around or connecting to a PC. Then again, I can't see myself bothering to watch movies on my DS either.

I have to laugh at good ol' Reggie for his comments about the game:

"We believe that it could be, should be a million unit title". "We're not going to get there, not through the holiday. And we are doing a lot of thinking as to why. Because it's a great game. The consumer reaction because of the quality has been strong. We're doing a lot of thinking about why we didn't get there. I think the marketing was strong, advertising was very good, the social media we did was very positive."

Quit thinking and start listening to your fan base Reggie. The game just wasn't there, period.

So stoked for this game but a cruise ship? Come on... I've been a huge RE fan from the beginning and the game has taken place in many locations. I really enjoy feeling confined in creepy places. The train in RE0 I could have done without as well. We'll see though.

You will stop caring the second Samus says "the Deleter."
I thought the cringe line was "Confession time". You know this voice actress also did the British voice of Krystal in Star Fox for the Cube, she wasn't that great in that game either.

FORTUNATELY, after beating the game, Samus actually returns to the Bottle Ship, and you can explore the entire ship AT YOUR LEISURE with all your power-ups available. Now you can get all the items you couldn't before, there's actually a second ending (that's better), and at least one absolutely wonderful bit of fanservice during that particular sequence.
If only there were one final run through before you beat it.

People are kicking up a fuss because Samus chooses to follow orders from a man as opposed to blow everything up with all of her fancy weapons. If her CO was a woman, she'd probably do the same thing so I don't buy that as sexist at all.
IMO, it's not the fact that a man gives her the authorization to use her abilities, it's the fact that she does it because??? Because she doesn't want to upset him even though he calls her an outsider? She wants to regain respect? Seriously, what is the explanation. It just doesn't feel the same as finding the things I worked so hard to gain. In this game he technically isn't her CO. And the fact that he locks rooms that you had access to before, even though you have the authorized ability to gain those items you found earlier, and quite possibly need...tough. The other part of the story is behind that door and you haven't finished a certain other event elsewhere. This made it feel more linear like Fusion, but a little more linear than Fusion.

A good run at 15-20 hours is fine with me. Adding other things to collect along the way appeals to adding more replayabilty of the game in some cases. Adding hard and expert modes appeals to the hardcore fan base. And in the case of MOM they've added a movie to the list. But I pose this question. Could the potential for say an MMORPG not be made for a home console? Not for Method in particular but just a thought. The multiplayer and replayability of those games is quite good.

The amount of storage space a game takes up has little do with the quality of gameplay. Chances are that without the movies the game would only need a single layer disc, I doubt the cinematic pushed gameplay plans out because of storage concerns. Heck the prime games could be beaten in a few hours if you were good enough, and Final Fantasy, well grinding contributes quite a bit to the length of the game. Some of the best games ever created were made with limited storage, think to the N64, SNES and NES days.
Phoneix, you misunderstand. I was just saying that it would be nice to see more elements to gameplay such as more levels, characters, plot development, exploration and even textures than cinematics. Surely to include these things it takes up more storage on a disc. And yes Final Fantasy VII was a bad example but it was mostly grinding that I was referencing there.

The point of why I bring this up is that I read that someone with an early copy has already beat Metroid Other M and collected 100% of the items in about 15 hours. They wrote a write up of the game and their thoughts on Metroid Database. *Warning there are spoilers contained within that link so if you click it you do so at your own risk.* I guess I would rather see the game take me 30 hours with less cut scenes. Does that make more sense?

That's why they made it so you only see the boss health gauge if he's alive. There's no incentive to keep Peppy and Falco alive beyond the added firepower; they have to give you a good reason not to let Slippy die.
When I was a kid we didn't have health bars, we just kept on shooting. They should have left him on Titania, lol.

Lol, her suit is so "streamlined" that it covers the heels. I think the most interesting card has to be the Aquatic Dangers card. Mostly because we haven't heard a single thing about it. And furthermore, I vaguely remember hearing in an interview at some point that they explored the possibility of an underwater segment but it felt like it slowed down the gameplay or something. But in order to incorporate the Gravity Suit, one would expect an Aquasphere or (AQA). The cards measure in at 7 1/8" x 5 1/8".

And this is possibly why there are so many fond memories of Starfox 64's voice acting.  Because in that game, they served the purpose of notification of enemy locations and hints and such.
Ummm...Slippy's whining REALLY stands out as well in that game. Often I would shoot him down first to avoid listening to him.

I've always wanted to own a Game and Watch simply to have that piece of Nintendo's history, but I think I may be too late on that one.
Check out this private sellers prices for old Game and Watch units.

Kinect at least has the potential for new ideas, but I haven't seen anything from it so far that looks like it could fulfill that potential.
Not to stray off topic but the new Michael Jackson game developed by Ubisoft claims to put you in his shoes per se using Kinect. Being into hip hop dance as I am I really am interested to see this thing in action. The choreographer for the game is a friend of mine and he explained quite a bit. It's just one example but a good one. It might even counter the Balance board with the fitness and yoga targeted audience. But we'll see how Nintendo counters this with the next console or peripheral. And oh how they love their peripherals lol.

Apparently a game review company editor who has a copy of the game has beaten it. They're fielding questions but are only allowed to talk about the first two hours.

Yeah, the print and card stock are quality. While we've seen some of the screenshots already some are new to me.

While its nice to see the game take full advantage of the Wii disc storage capacity I would like to see a game take advantage with more gameplay, levels, characters, plot development and exploration incorporated into it than uncompressed movie files.

Gone are the days of the double, triple and quadruple disc games that were packed with so much of everything you were getting a 60+ hour game. Final Fantasy anyone? While I know that the storage mediums have come a long way since then, I have to wonder why Wii game developers as a whole do not utilize what they have been given in capacity to produce something that is quality.

Where does the bulk of time, money and resources go in the 2 to 6 year variable span of time when an ok, sub par or sometimes heap of crap game gets produced?

I think Nintendo should continue the trend of working with other development teams. I would say some of their really great and memorable games have been produced when collaborating with others.

Thoughts? Am I off?

Uploaded the pics of the text on the backs of the cards. As the writing itself is faint with a thin lined font, the text is legible but not too clear. I typed up the text in each caption for the cards for easier reading. Here is the link to the album. Enjoy.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: 3DS, what are your top 3 most anticipated games?
« on: August 25, 2010, 05:29:02 PM »
I think that in order to keep out rumored titles (i.e. it has been rumored for years that Nintendo was making a Kid Icarus game for Wii, but it was never confirmed), maybe you should include sources confirming new games..
A quick skim of various gaming sites over the net and here are some links for your review to try to distill these "rumored titles" you speak of:

Final Fantasy:
1. Here is a list of games as shown at E3 and posted on IGN. (Dragon Quest is also on the list)
2. Here is an Interview with Square talking about the potential of porting over Final Fantasy to the 3DS.
3. Here is Reggie Fils-Aime confirming that Final Fantasy will be on the 3DS.

Dragon Quest
1. Here is Dragon Quests Yuji Horii talking about the possibility of porting over Dragon Quest to the 3DS.
2. Here, on a side note, is a news article on the newest Dragon Quest Opening as aired in 3D theaters in Japan (experimenting with 3D are we? Hmmm...)

Hope this helps. This thread was created for gamers to talk about the games they anticipate for the 3DS. Anticipate does not mean confirmed. I have merely listed the games that have been confirmed or talked about by developers on record. If you have something to add to the list, great. Hope this helps.

Updated the list with Final Fantasy and DragonQuest. But the internet is vague with no more detail than the working title.

A couple days early but here are the pics from the Art Folio. While I may not be the best photographer out there you can at least get a sneak peak as to what you will be getting for pre-ordering the game. Enjoy! Had to create a temp website to host the pics online. Mind the URL.

I can honestly say that I would like to see some more F-Zero. Another series with large gaps in its releases. I think it would be a perfect game to push the 3DS hardware.
