This Week's Game Releases and DLC
« on: January 11, 2009, 12:18:22 PM »
The first week of 2009 brought about few releases, including Konami's Elebits sequel on the DS and new downloadable content from Guitar Hero: World Tour and Samba de Amigo on Wii.

 Wii Games

Fishing Master World Tour – Hudson

Hudson's Fishing Master World Tour, the sequel to the original Fishing Master, features the same motion-controlled fishing as in the original. Featuring various areas based on real geographic locations, Fishing Master World Tour brings new additions like four-player multiplayer, online leader boards, and a deep sea fishing mode. This new game also adds boss battles, which are special events where players can try to catch rare fish. Fishing Master World Tour is rated E for Everyone and is now available for $29.99.

Paws & Claws: Pet Resort – THQ

The Wii version of THQ's Paws & Claws: Pet Resort allows players to take care of seven different types of animals at their very own pet resort. DS Games

Elebits: The Adventures of Kai and Zero – Konami

Konami's DS sequel to Elebits for the Wii follows Kai, the child hero of the original game, as he journeys on a magic bus created by his father to find different Elebits in a far-off world. The new addition for this sequel is the Omega Elebits. These creatures, fifty in all, provide Kai with special powers that will aid him in solving puzzles and gain in strength the more they are used. The game also features online play using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, allowing players to compete against in each other in Elebits-capturing battles. Elebits: The Adventures of Kai and Zero is rated E for Everyone and is available now for $29.99.

Sorry about the delay. Hopefully once we figure out a format for the weekly release article, it'll come out before the week is out.

It's the first week of 2009, not 2008.

I like the idea of this. The past month or so there has been confusion as to release dates so this should fill the void.As Insanolord pointed out its 2009.

I think this is a great idea.  I would add wiiware and virtual console releases as well, it would be great to have all of this information in a single place.   I would release it on Monday and include the VC and Wiiware games for that day and all of the other games that were released since the previous Monday.  That is because Wiiware and VC titles are the only ones on a fixed schedule.  Then at the end I would list the title and release date (no description) of all the games scheduled to come out over the next week.  Having a spot for hardware releases, if any, would also be good.
Imagine if every Thursday your shoes exploded if you tied them the usual way. This happens to us all the time with computers, and nobody thinks of complaining.

About having 2008: I am an idiot. Thanks for pointing it out.

I like your idea, TheBlackCat. I'll have to talk to our wonderful news editor about it. My only qualm about it is that I think it's too much of a delay after the previous week. Personally, I'd like to see the weekly release article go up on Thursday or Friday.

I tried to champion this idea back in November, but 8 billion games (rough estimate) came out in that month. The format of this article is a work in progress, so any questions/comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I like how you've broken it down by Wii/DS/DLC.  If you could throw in some indentations, that'd be great.  Also, I think it might be nice if you had the price and rating bulleted under the title of the game instead of in the paragraph.

I wish there was anything like that in Europe... All I can check is the Amazon release list.

Hey, lots of eyes missed that one, including mine. It's a very easy mistake to make--we've glazed over 2008 in articles as "this year" for twelve months.

Funny follow-up story.
After I realized the miscue, I went back to check on the game profiles I had to make for this article (Bigfoot and the Paws & Claws games). I made the same mistake.
Thank you, insanolord :)
