GameCube on iMac? Am I dreaming or smoking.
« on: December 16, 2003, 08:19:07 AM »
Lets make this short and sweet. I have a 17' widescreen iMac and I'm wondering is there any simple way to connect the GCN to said screen. I don't think there is but I thought I'd ask a few folks first. G.L.O.P.

I'm a newbie Mac owner (Powerbook G4 12"), so I'm far from an expert.  I know that only way to get a video signal into my Mac would be through the firewire input.  I think it's a reasonably safe assumption that there are firewire devices which would allow you to capture the composite or s-video output from the Gamecube, since Macs are often used for video editing.  You might even be able to use component/VGA.  These devices may not be cheap or simple, though.

Do mac's have the standard plug to plug the monitor into the pc?  If so you can get devices to hook those up to a gamecube or anything through s video inputs.   By standard I mean the same plug you would get on your monitor if you purchased a windows based pc at a store.

My dad hooked up my Nintendo 64 to an old mac ages ago. The screen was too small though. I'm not sure back maybe you can use the 64 RF switch thingy to hook to input serial port 1 thingy.
I'm physchic. If I wanted your opinion I would have told you what it was.

you would need a video capture device that plugs into your firewire port, then you need software to view the input (should come with video capture device) Majexto, imacs are all in one computers, there is not port for a monitor, plus all  new apple computer use their own apple display connector which carries digital video and also powers the display
