Well Nintendo has recently released Fiscal Year 2008 results.
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/index.htmlAccording to the report the Wii has sold 24.45 million units to date. Not to mention the Wii has 26 games that are million sellers and the Wii's LTD Software total is 148,440,000, which gives the Wii an attach rate of 6.07.
Oh yeah, and Smash Bros Brawl has sold 4.85 million copies worldwide. In Japan the game has sold 1.61 million copies, while here in America it's already sold 3.24 million copies. That's right, 3.24 million copies in just over 6 weeks here in America.
This means Brawl will sell over 5 million copies before it's even released in Europe this June. Once it's released in Europe, chances are that Brawl will surpass Melee's lifetime total before the end of the year. Hell, since Melee's lifetime total according to Nintendo is only around 7 million, Brawl should easily surpass that by September or even sooner.
Oh I should also add that Nintendo is predicting to sell around 25 million year for the next year, which means by this time next year the Wii could have a userbase of over
50 MILLION!!!I imagine by that time third parties will finally start to take the system seriously because a system with a 50 million userbase is going to be impossible to ignore. Or you'd think so anyway.
