Nintendo Gaming / Finally! Zelda Commercial
« on: February 18, 2003, 02:12:19 PM »
Nintendo can't get arrogant and just expect Zelda to sell... thecubedcanuck made this point a couple weeks back.. they need to advertise this thing better than the Ocarina of Time commercial (which i thought worked well in delivering the intensity of the game)

get some good promos goin, nintendo!

Nintendo Gaming / "Networking Gamecubes"
« on: February 14, 2003, 12:13:29 PM »
ok.. i guess i should have put my previous post into the form of a question:

would 28 players on a LAN slow down ? I am unfamiliar with LAN gaming; does having lots of players slow down the game any?

could the GCN handle 30 racers in F-zero? That sounds ludicrous

I think the only reason why I like Microsoft right now is that they are helping to raise the American Economy (Xbox may not be that much of a money maker, but hell, everything helps) and when Microsoft cut XP's price i was pretty happy.. too bad i stil have Win ME

anyways.. Nintendo should not ever merge with Sega, but outright buy them... so we can laugh... and then rejoice because we will have Jet Set Radio 2

Nintendo Gaming / GameCube's Appeal to the Teen Audience

I agree with all those that agree with me.

There is very little about video games that makes them mature... think about it: you are sitting on your arse anywhere from 1 - 9.8 feet away from a TV screen (more if you use a Wavebird) while controlling some polygonal figure (sprites if you are down with the old systems). No goal is accomplished in this process, except in the case that you are playing a strategy game in which you are using your wit or if you are expanding your vocabulary by learning the definitions of the words in the games (i used to do this as a young child; now my little brother does the same). If you are playing online or a multiplayer game, you may meet new friends, but the same could be done outside (save for the online games, those are quite different)

anyways, next time someone pulls the "Nintendo's games are kiddy" on me i am whipping out the above rebuttal. anyone who wants to add more to support me i do appreciate their help.. this is practically mentally planned out in my head right now.. i am just waiting for my next encounter with a "Mature" gamer.

Nintendo Gaming / Heres an Idea Vivendi revisited
« on: February 11, 2003, 03:25:23 PM »
I can't stand EA... they are just too big... when i was an uneducated gamer i always loved hearing "EA Sports: it's in the game" (madden 94), but now i just see that name and a feeling of bitterness swells up in me.

Note: some (not all) of this hatred comes from the sports deal, but i understand that the majority of gamers own at least a PS2, so not many buy games for the cube, so EA had to withdraw sports titles from Cube... but if someone (retro) could make a good football game then Cube would have a good sports market.. and EA couldnt get any of the profit.. part of this hatred stems from the Bond license.. i love Perfect Dark to death (i bought an Xbox for it), but EA butchered the Bond series... there could have been a second good FPS on GCN right now.. but instead we just have TimeSplitters 2

anyway.. nintendo needs to get at least one of Vivendi's bigger developers... and just keep EA from getting their hands on anything...

edit: this isn't fanboy hatred.. i just hate when a company gets too big in any one industry, competition brings about innovation and good products.. which is why MS or Sony (or even Nintendo) can't get total control of the market

2nd edit: I was more of a NFL 2k fan myself; Madden got too focused on play calling (i admit that i suck at play calling)... the EA hockey games i stopped liking after NHL 99 ... now i guess ill play blitz (yea, right)

Ironically, Xbox's push to emphasize the voice capabilities of Live could be a downside, as I know quite a few people who DON'T like to talk to people while playing games, let alone people they're playing against, and it could certainly be a deterent for females.  Girls playing most online games can simply not make a note of their gender, since there's no way to really find out, but online where you need to talk to people?  You KNOW every guy is going to hit on her, regardless of her playing skills.

I thought that Microsoft was going to add a feature where you could have a different voice through the Xbox Live communicator.. or was that feature removed?

« on: February 10, 2003, 04:03:36 PM »
Just thought i'd bring to attention the new commercial for the free game that comes with the gamecube... this commercial was somwhat funny in my opinion.. the guy at the register reminds me of the clerk in Meet the Parents that sells ben stiller the Mums wine... anyway.. the commercial was airing during Joe Millionaire tonight.

i have a feeling that the game will rely too heavily upon the special effects and not have enough substance... just be another gimmicky game

hopefully it wont be though

the timesplitters series will never be exclusive to GameCube. Free Radical would be missing out on so much money that could be made from the Ps2 and Xbox crowd.. if anything Sony or MSoft will snatch em'

Nintendo Gaming / Offical 2002 Game Of The Year Nominees
« on: February 04, 2003, 02:35:48 PM »
well .. i was referring more to the complete dominance of Nintendo's handheld
its an insecure nintendo fan sorta thing.. actually.. i would say that i am acknowledging the GBA's dominance before Microsoft tries to make something big.. like revitalizing Red Jade (who knows, they may be in talks with Nokia as we speak...)

I really would like to see Prime beat out battlefield 1943 for the Game of the Year.. just to show how much ass it kicks... and I want to see Eternal Darkness win in the sound department, and Animal Crossing to win in Innovation..

I love the handheld category.. its practically saluting Nintendo's dominance

we shall see how things go when Microsoft and Sony release handhelds
(it will happen, take my word for it)

Nintendo Gaming / Official F-Zero Thread
« on: February 02, 2003, 08:33:51 AM »
I'm really hoping for some more tunes that are as catchy as Big Blue and Mute City's music

and I hope the Arcade Version gets pretty popular, I really want people to notice this game.

Nintendo Gaming / F-Zero
« on: February 01, 2003, 03:17:19 PM »
Does anyone know what the control layout will be for this (hopefully) dazzling title? I was wondering how they would do the controls for the arcade version, and then i began to think "how does the layout for the GCN version work?"

also, how do you think the arcade layout will be... i think playing F-Zero with a joystick would be a little awkward

anyways, i guess if anyone has any ideas, then here is the place to discuss it...
