....and perhaps branching paths and the option to backtrack at will... so you follow set paths but have choices at every corner... plus add the ability to take cover at will (instead of most on-rails shooters where certain locations allow you to duck for cover, you could press the Dpad/c/z button to choose to peek around a ledge/wall/corner)

..but the real fun in fps is owning your roomates.. so in that sense, I NEED a solid FPS (im borrowing Red Steel from a friend next week so i'll probably have different opinions of how it should all go down).

I don't think you undersand the game. It is a battalion/company level war game. You will never see "sniper" units or "hero" units. They wouldn't be in the sprit of the game. Those units are far too "local".

um i do understand the game; in fact i made an 'A' in my ECON 2106 while destroying the campaign mode and war room. I'm not suggesting that the sniper serve as a hero... just a marine scout sniper duo (spotter and shooter) or hell go ahead and make ten of them.. i'm simply suggesting that this stealthy unit should have very limited movement but should be practically unnoticeable on the field of combat.

i guess it's all semantics

good lord! I sneezed and thus double-posted. fart.

oh well.. I want button mapping in Opera Wii browsing, too. You should be able to pull up favorites, search bar, address bar, etc with the Dpad.

all i know is that the opera browser is the christmas present of which Reggie spoke

ps.- we need to ask Japanese Wii-ners to demand that Nintendo update the Mii Channel! Talk about keeping people hooked; If Nintendo would continue modifying our Mii Channels via Connect24 they could keep adding tiny bits of joy to the same ol' design.

Wi-fi Advanced Wars sounds pretty neat, but too many ppl. would disconnect (can you blame them? those battles drag on for hours and hours)

so they need to tweak things / make smaller stages available over Wi-Fi

i'd be more than satisfied if we got something in the vein of FirePro

use wiimote as  classic controller (sideways)
shake to break submissions/keep opponent locked in move

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Sensor Bar Question - PLEASE Help!
« on: December 03, 2006, 09:03:23 AM »
fun anecdote:-- I was folding laundry at my kitchen table, my Wii is located two rooms away.. I felt some rumbling in my controller and realized that I was actually still directly controlling the pointer in the Wii menu... and im talkng about a distance of over 25 feet without direct line of sight of the TV/sensor bar!

I'll draw a quick picture later tonight, but I was pointing at a reflection of my TV on a pair of glass doors in my living room.. crazy!

yeah, i don't really get where you're coming from, vudu. I guess VGrev''s family member could opt to buy his own on a credit card and then pay if off at auction, but if he doesn't want to then why not enjoy some of the profits...

my head hurts.

are you sh!tting me? this is zelda. screw the control nonsense. this is zelda. I'd bet that the next Zelda game will play pretty much like this one does, or else it will have more in depth sword controls/puzzles utilizing the wiimote. Guess what? this is still zelda. why do you care that will feel like a GC game? the next zelda will probably have the same gameplay mechanics anyway. They perfected the 3d zelda formula in Majora's Mask. Let's let them experiment in level design all they want, cuz thats the only thing that will keep these titles feeling fresh.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Wii Kiosk

REALLY off topic,,

but does anyone else think that the gamecube would have sold better if it's headlining color was the digital-blue that it appears to be in so many press photos?

edit: I realize how vacuous this seems. I've just been overlooking Nintendo's cube stuff on their european website and have been wondering if a simple color change would have been enough to outsell the Xbox in North America. personally i don't think it would have been the deciding factor once the halo craze really took off, but consider how early adoption could have kept third parties hanging around a little longer...

i was demonstrating my wii for my family last night. it worked just fine, but the wiimot was about twice as long as the actual mold and had a full set of buttons to serve as a universal tv/dvd/vcr remote
