Time Based 18+ Restriction Removed From European eShops
« on: March 21, 2013, 06:53:58 PM »

The German Entertainment Software Self-Regulation Body approves.

The restriction that only allowed 18+ games to be viewed and downloaded on the Nintendo eShop between 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM has been removed.

Previously, even if you were of the proper age, 18+ games were only viewable and purchasable at certain hours. This was because of a German law on the sale of games online, and as Nintendo of Europe's servers are based in Germany those restrictions were enforced.

The change comes after an analysis of Nintendo's Parental Control system by the German Entertainment Software Self-Regulation Body. The parental controls have been deemed to be of a very high quality offering a remarkable level of protection. It was also noted that the system has proved itself in practice.

Games like Zombi U and other 18+ titles can be purchased by adults anytime.

I'm a staff writer here at good ol' Nintendo World Report, but I also have a Nintendo website at www.nintendogamerthoughts.com
