Just as the name implies. The Classic Controller edition comes bundled with that awesome Monster Hunter-themed Classic Controller, the normal edition is just the game by itself.

Why would people buy a new system just for a demo?

Why would people buy a new system just for a demo?

The same reason a lot of people in Japan would buy a Xbox 360 just for a new JRPG and then sell the system after they beat the game.

Its a very common thing to do in Japan.
Buy the system for one game, beat that game, then sell the game and the system back to the shop.
rinse wash repeat.
unless there are alot of games coming out that you want to play, then you hold onto the system.

Japan has a very large used game market, since game rentals are not allowed.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of them do. Most will probably keep it, don't forget that Final Fantasy XIII is PS3-only in Japan (Square Enix made sure to announce that the Xbox 360 version was not gonna be released in Japan) and I think the Blu-ray Disc movie bundled with the PS3 includes a playable demo of the game.

The lack of game rentals in Japan is the fault of video game companies, who have lobbied against it. Sega did offer rentals of Dreamcast games though, and Koei offered rentals in 2006.

8 million and struggling... I'm wondering if the Wii can crawl its way to 15 million in that market.

Not until Nintendo gets off its collective ass and releases something new besides the same combination of Wii Fit, Wii Play, and Wii Sports that have been haunting the charts for the last 3 years. At this point these games are beyond old, and its ridiculous (and a bit sickening) that nothing new has come out. What the hell is going on at Nintendo? They're sitting on their hands while Sony makes inroads.

Someone is forgetting Wii Sports Resort in June. Seriously this freaking out is getting just as old as the whining about Sony selling more PS3s which until the FF13 release have been nothing to shout about from either Nintendo or Sony. Punch-Out comes out next month. Is that not something? Wii Sports comes out in June, is that nothing? Monster Hunter 3 comes out in Summer? Is that nothing? What does Sony have? Oh yeah, FF13 and that is pretty much it. Sony still has a LONG way to go before they even get close to the Wii in Japan, making these freak out comments all the more ridiculous lacking any perspective on what it really means.

Plus there is that 'space walker' game coming some time as well.

Yeah, in the states anyhow the PSP software just dried up in the last 18 months.  It's one hell of a dry spell.  Just picked up a PSP 3000 myself because the "greatest" hits selection has expanded (God Of War, Final Fantasy ect).

As for pirating games, don't.  If you love something SUPPORT IT.

Some games you don't have a choice with the matter (import games). If a game is never released in your region, there isn't much other choice. Not that I condone it, but I understand why people do it.

I know there isn't much at all, but you can't forget that titles like Patapon (Patapon 2 is going to be released soon), LocoRoco 2, Phantasy Star Portable, Prinny Can I really Be The Hero, Star Ocean First Departure, and Star Ocean Second Evolution have been released within the last 18 months. Which isn't much I know, but nonetheless they are good games to be picked up if you're interested in those kind of game genre.

Hmm... Monster Hunter G sales are relatively significant for a port of an old PS2 game, yet Wii hardware sales remain flat.
Carmine Red, Associate Editor

A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.
