I can only imagine what your memorabilia collection will look like in a few years time, when you can just create your characters in whatever pose, outfit, style you wish, go down to your local Staples to print it out, and then take it home and position it in your set-up how ever you imagined.

sample of 3d Print Quality:

So lets see those Mario, Pokemon and Skylander figurines I know you are about to design and print.

edit: here is a site for some inspiration:

Sadly, it's probably pretty expensive and they likely won't do copyrighted stuff. :(

At home 3D printers already exist and will only get better with time. Files to make copyrighted figurines will (already are?) be as widely available as a common torrent. Just wait. Your time will come.

I wonder how this will change tabletop gaming.  Not a player, but seems like it could do some awesome things for this.

It would be.  Know if the 3D Printers will do colors like the above examples that be cool.  I may take up 3D modeling.

Growing up they were scenes one the stores in different parts of Ohio with skiers that ski and like.  I would love to create one of those.

I wouldn't expect much out of Staples. These are copy centers staffed and run by people that barely even have high school diplomas, after all. Besides, the majority of stores are complete pricks about doing anything that could even remotely be copyrighted. Thankfully, home 3D printers continue to drop dramatically in price.

Thats the beauty of the 3D printer is such a complex precision machine that it almost has to boiled down to letting the professionals do maintenance.

I've been waiting for this technology ever since I saw the now giant monstrosity at my universities lab five years ago.

First thing I'd create? A replica of Burj Al Arab. Second thing I'd create? Well that's a secret.

Imagine how this will revolutionize the Ikea business model. No need to back to the store for that missing part when you can just print one. Never be without an Allen Wrench again!
