The Fighter - Pretty Great/10

Wow! Those accents! Man, they were thick. The charaters were all pretty interesting. The boxing matches were good. I heard they used actual HBO stuff to do it. Somebody REALLY wants an oscar, and you can tell the whole time.

If Christian Bale doesn't win an Oscar for best supporting actor I'd be shocked--he did an amazing job.

I wish Red Steel 2 would have been worth more respect.

I was considering moving it to the Recycle Bin forum.

I played Picross 3D for about a minute at PAX East, and I've never touched a Layton game <stares at backlog, feels no guilt>.  I might just pick it up if I see it super-cheap.

Is $9.99 for Picross 3D and $17.99 for the new Professor Layton cheap enough?

You may think you're the only ones in on the joke, but in actuality you're the only ones who care about it in the first place.

they decided to apply external pressure to the situation by making a great game that does not it within the (arbitrary) limitations.

Everything I've read indicates that the limitation isn't as arbitrary as you seem to think it is.

It would have been nice of them to announce this when people still had a chance to buy it on sale on Steam for $3.75.

The game is back on sale for $3.75 (today only!).  Buy it now unless you already have it on XBLA.

I'd be so pissed right now if I didn't buy the game a couple days ago on Steam.

I'm normally not one to complain about Nintendo's inane policies, but this sucks.

What's it really matter? It's easier to just download the Mac file right from the bundle's website and archive it to use whenever you want. The annoyance would be having to load Steam and download all of your games through it.

No joke--I still have the original Humble Indie Bundle sitting in a folder on my desktop.  It's been there for over a year.  I haven't touched it.

It's just easier to have the games available through Steam.  I don't have to think about storing the games anywhere else.  I always know where they'll be whenver I finally get around to playing them.  :)

Anybody who donates more than the current average now gets the first set of games.

Actually, I paid less than the current average and I still got the first bundle (even though I already bought it last year).

Nintendo Gaming / Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation
« on: December 20, 2010, 09:22:08 AM »
Nintendo just announced that Dragon Quest VI will be released in North America on February 14.

Fantastic news.  We haven't heard a peep out of this game in quite some time, so I'm excited to finally receive confirmation that it will be getting a State-side release.

This reminds me that I really need to finish Dragon Quest V.

Which of the EA games are worth playing?  I don't feel like wasting 99 cents on something that's not worth my time.

I should lock this thread for its blatant advertising of another site without any original content.  Also, this topic was already discussed elsewhere.

Not to mention Gabe/Valve have stated several times that if something was ever to go awry in regards to the Steam service or the games they offer, they would just unlock all the games, allowing them to be played without Steam.

Out of curiosity, how would that work for games that aren't currently installed on my system?  I generally only have a couple games at most installed at any one time.

EA has most of their games on iPhone and iPad at 99 cents right now, thanks to Mr. Gamin for the heads-up!

Are any of them worth playing?

I've got a quick question though, perhaps someone could help. I don't seemed to have unlocked any of the additional modes.

I understand the boss battle and time attacks modes still being locked (as i think you need to do the best ending for those), but shouldn't i have unlocked Curly Mode? Everything that I've read suggests that you just need to defeat curly in story mode to unlock this, which i have. Any information would be appreciated.

If I recall correctly, those modes are unlocked from the start of the game.  The menu's setup a bit weird so it's tough to tell, but you can rotate the menu options to get to boss mode, etc.

Kirby's Epic Yarn - $15
Donkey Kong Country Returns - $15

Seriously?  When/when/how?

You are gonna have to ask someone in Europe to confirm if it was ever released or not. NOA would never be so kind.

Shoot--I failed to realize that it's a PAL system.

Don't get too excited, it's still the NES version. And it's likely leftover from the recent red Wii, which came out first and had Donkey Kong pre-downloaded on it.

Actually, you're wrong--it's a version of the Donkey Kong NES game that includes the missing level.  It's totally unique to the European bundle.  See here for more info.

Check this out!

Is that real?

Black wheel is cool, but more importantly, check out the upper right corner of the box--Donkey Kong original edition!

I've spent half the morning changing passwords and trying to remember all the sites I use that e-mail/password combination.  Pisses me off.

The good news is I'm finally setting up unique passwords for every site I frequent.  Talk about a pain in the ass.

Runner is one of the Bit.Trip games that doesn't rely on the unique properties of the Wii remote at all.  I expect to see Runner ported to PC and/or Live Arcade/PSN--probably with additional content.
