trying to find Mario Brothers for GameCube
« on: December 23, 2005, 06:05:23 PM »
okay, many many years ago (must've been 10+ years ago), when the Nintendo games were still large cartridges that you plug into the console, there existed a Mario Brothers game that I loved... the little guys running around jumping on turtles and bumping overhead tiles and stuff would grow out of those tiles... I don't remember the name of the console at the time.  Here's the thing, I have a GameCube now and was wondering if there's a Mario Brothers game out there similar to that one.  There are so many 'Mario' games out there now that I don't know which is the right one.  I looked up Mario Sunshine and it sounded close enough. Any ideas??

I think the game you're referring to is the first Super Mario Bros on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). You know, the title that single-handedly revolutionised gaming

Yeah, Sunshine is the only "true" Mario game on the GameCube - the rest are just spinoffs that use Mario's name, not platformers. I would highly recommend the game to you, but you must know that Mario has evolved in his jump from 2D to 3D - it's a whole different experience. If you can, try out Mario 64 before Sunshine to get used to the new environment.

Also, Nintendo's next-generation system - the Revolution - will be able to download old games for you to play. So if you buy it you'll be able to play that old Mario in all its glory if you don't have the game for the NES right now..

Closest thing is probably the Mario Advance titles for the Gameboy Advance (which are graphically updated versions of the old games), with a Gameboy Player you can play those on the GC.

Hmmm, theiris Super Mario Sunshine and might be a Mario 128 for the cube, but if you want a Mario Brothers than their is Mario Brothers 1 for GBA as for MB 2 and 3 their in Mario Avdance 1 and 4 and Mario world 1 and 2 is in Mario Avdance 2 and 3, all on the GBA. If you want a new Mario brothers games than their is a new one in the works that move 2d but is 3d for the DS called New Super Mario Bros.

It's been delayed so they can implement Revolution Controller compatibility.
