Whats up with 1080?
« on: February 12, 2003, 05:16:36 PM »
I was just looking at shot of 1080 on IGN, and they don't sound that impressed. The reactions to it from the CubeClubs were kinda mixed too. Anyone have any idea what Nintendo is doing with title? Are they making a less that stellar game, or do they have secrets they still ain't revealed yet?

I just read in IGN that the game is finished. It doesn't look good graphics wise, but the gameplay should be good. Looks like a maybe buy for me.

just go to one of the video game stores or circuit city for all that matters and look at the video for yourself. trust me, its supposed to be on the gamecube demos in most stores this month. i have seen the 1080 video several times. but since ssx tricky is only 20 bucks, i might be buying it pretty soon.

Yeah, I watched a video of it at a kiosk in Best Buy.  The graphics aren't quite as breath-taking as I'd hoped, but it definately looks like it has potential.  I'll definately be keeping my eye on this game to see how it progresses.

I just finished watching the video from IGN in 640x480. Even at that high of resolution capture, there are jaggies all over. I hope that the game isn't quite done and that they are still going to do some tweaking.

The game looks so average! Almost unfinished....
And the worst part is that the game is now finished.

Hopefully the gameplay will make up for the average visuals.

I watched people play it at the Chicago Cube Club last December. To me the environments looked very sparsely detailed. Alot of the little touches that give the maps character seemed to be missing. It basicly appeared to be a higher resolution version of the N64 1080. As far as control goes, I don't know, I didn't play it.

i watched the demo on the Zelda disc, it's really not that bad, maybe because my TV is kinda small, and hopefully great game play will make the game great.

WTF are Nintendo doing. Ive already heard many gameplay complaints from famous sites like PGC etc and now they finish it with unimpressive graphics and dont release until the end of the year.

How stupid, why not release it now, what would it stand up against?

Winter is almost over so Snowboarding season is almost over. EA doesn't release Madden in May. This isn't the first time Nintendo has waited to release a complete game. I'm still waiting for mini racers for my n64.

It seems likely in most cases, when a game is completed and is held back for approximately 5 months or more, that:
(1)  It will never see the light of day
(2)  Be completely redone (i.e. Conker's Quest)
(3)  Be canned.

I've played the demo for Transworld Snowboarding, and the controls and graphics are great. The type of moves you can pull off make it a sorta arcadish but its fun. I'd recomend that one. That games multi-console right?
