I've noticed a trend here that is a little strange.  Every week now the Wii U sales are higher than the sales of the same week in the prior year.  However the YTD sales remain lower than last year's.  So the Wii U is selling better on a weekly basis but still doesn't yet look like it will sell more than it did last year.  So was there some big splurge in sales last year that puts it over the top or a really weak period earlier this year?
The Wii U was still selling decently to start last year. I think the first week in January was way higher last year than this year plus the next few weeks.
This year started to be higher after I think Mario Kart was released.

North America -

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
135k digital
570k physical
-
Hyrule Warriors
190k total
-
Mario Kart 8
60k
1.2 million LTD
-----
Smash selling a lot is good, expected news. Hyrule Warriors selling 190k sound good. I assume it is good if Nintendo of America cared to mention it now instead of later.

Don't think Nintendo cares about Hyrule Warriors sales because it's main publisher is Koei Tecmo, I think Nintendo's publishing the pal region.  The sales actually are pretty good for Koei Tecmo's, right around other DW games.

Pretty sure it's going drop like a rock and be a bargin bin title for Black Friday.  I can't see myself paying $60 for Hyrule Warriors but I might think about it at $20.  Would have gotten in on Kmart's Preorder special ($40 rewards) but it was Out of Stock by the time I saw the deal.

PS4 continues to dominate. SONY says that PS4 console sales tripled compared to August. Wii U sales are apparently up, but they are still deplorable. NPD says Xbone and PS4 made up 85% of all hardware sales, which means PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and 3DS made up only 15% combined. People are saying that Destiny for XBone sold more than PS4. It did not. The PS4 sales do not include the Destiny console bundles.

And...once again Michael Pachter was hilariously wrong in a prediction, as he predicted Xbone would outsell PS4 due to the free game promotion. http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Xbox-One-Outsold-PS4-September-According-Michael-Pachter-67840.html  :D

I like this image mocking it:

It'll be interesting to see how much longer the PS4 continues to trounce the Xbone in sales (550,000 estimated), considering how light Sony's 1st party lineup is for the final 3 NPD months of this year.

I doubt it includes digital either.  Which makes more sense to most people when the game requires you to always be online.

If there's anything a Nintendo enthusiast knows, it's that 1st party developed or published games (no matter the quality) do not necessarily have a huge and lasting effect on sales. The continued momentum and image of the PlayStation 4 will make it a rule the top for the rest of the year. Sunset Overdrive and Halo Master Chief Collection don't appear to be titles that will shift momentum from the PlayStation 4 to the Xbox One.

I have already decided I am getting a PS4 by years end. I was going to get Destiny on PS3 but I will wait till I get the PS4. Right now my PS3 is going into back log mode only all new games I will reserve for the PS4 and the scraps that fall under the table onto the Wii U's plate.

Looking at that list I bought Destiny, Fifa, and Madden, and i'll probably pick up NHL in December. Even as an xbox one owner it was easy to tell Patcher was full of **** like he always mostly is. In the end the PS4 will dominate this generation and i hope the Wii U and Xbox One can succeed in their own rights. While I think the PS4 has been light on first party in quantity and Quality, the mos exciting thing is how different all three first party line ups are right now and will be in the future based on what's announced.

It being a remake with a questionable track list OF a game with a questionable track list didn't help its case, sadly.

couple of things I noticed, the PS4 has out sold Wii U 3 weeks in a row and appears to be steadily climbing in numbers and widening the gap week to week, closing the lifetime gap. Second, Mario Kart 8 is hanging in there while Destiny is just about gone while Bayonetta and Hyrule Warriors already dropped off. Also PS Vita and Vita TV sales are lumped together, I seem to remember they used to be separate but I might be wrong.
