G4 TV launches Wii channel....sorta
« on: April 11, 2007, 08:05:01 PM »
Acording to the latest episode of "Attack of the Show".  The G4TV station has launched it's own Wii channel, however it's a website, But it's still entirely Wii friendly so you can watch videos, check video game news in "The Feed" and view photos.  Hopefully they will add more on down the road......check it out

It is boring. The only reason to ever watch it is for Kaiju Big Battel.

Same here, but the only other shows I watch are Arrested Development, The Jamie Kennedy Experiment and Cheaters. Most of those come on in a row right about now -  AoTS, JKX, AD, then XPlay.  Otrher times Cheaters just comes on and I'm too lazy to turn the channel.

F*ck G4TV. They ruined TechTV. And Adam Sessler is a douche. Not even Olivia Munn's hotness can balance out his unrelenting douchebaggery.

Morgan Webb wasn't annoying when X-Play actually reviewed games without the forced sarcasm and failed attempts at humor, which was also before they made her into this game goddess sex symbol.

G4 is a total joke of a network. Why is there so much Star Trek? And Cheaters? What the crap...... It needs to be a gaming and computing channel again.

Are you thinking of Kevin Pereira? He's the one opposite Olivia Munn on AOTS. Adam Sessler is on X-Play.

That was Kevin Pereira. He didn't break it out of "spite." It was a joke. . .a really bad joke. It was during that whole thing with the DSLites cracking on the left hinge.

That said, I watch G4. I enjoy X-Play's reviews; although, the "skits" that they use as episode fluff are a bit annoying, and the joking can get in the way of some of the reviews.

No, I meant Adam Sessler. That guy has always irked me. I just used Olivia Munn as an example of someone on G4 who isn't annoying since others like Tina Wood either left the network or got fired.

I actually don't mind Kevin Pereira. I'm not about to go out of my way to watch Attack of the Show but if it's on, it's not like I'm so irritated by Pereira that I have to change the channel.

Anyway, I find this G4 TV channel kind of useless. I guess it's nice that Wii is getting enough attention to cause such a thing to happen though.

G4TV sucks. I still don't quite understand how they screwed over TechTV, but man they really f*ed over a lot of people, and their entire audience. If it's called "TV 4 Gamers", then why in the Hell do they just show stupid crap like 7-year old Man Show episodes, Cheaters, COPS, Star Trek, Jamie Kennedy, etc. The channel simply sucks.

OK, what happened was the person or company that owned techtv was wanting to sell the network.  G4TV didn't have that big of an audience so they bought out TechTV and all the shows that were on that network were integrated into G4 and some shows were dropped, and the name changed to G4TechTV so people understood that the two stations merged.  After awhile the merge name was dropped and it became G4 again.

However since they really gained a bigger audience and an audience interested in other things besides video games.  They had to taylor their programing to other things.  It's still kind of a channel for nerds, just not strickly computer nerds.  There are a lot of things I hate about it.  I do wish I had two different channels because I loved TechTV, and having G4 for all my video game goodness.

You know, I don't mind X-Play at all, the only time I hate it is when they review crap games. Most of the time though, I either like their stuff or at the very least find the content bearable. AOTS, though, is utter trash. While watching Munn is awesome, the whole "live" thing I think doesn't work out too well due to the bad jokes that Pereira tends to try to pull. I hate him.

*Warning rant ahead*

I hate the current G4! I can't stand what they did to the network. I miss the old g4 I watched g4 years ago, before they bought tech tv, before the nintendo hating loser Kevin Pereira got hired, back when the channel first started. Back then it was gaming nearly 24/7 (beside paid programing) all the shows were none bais and never did anyone ever bash nintendo for being tiku tiku tiku! The only downside was you could tune in for an hour and see all of the new shows they air all week. Then E3 05 came along and finaly there were new shows daily but perfect g4 woundn't last long as they merge with tech tv 4 week later and turn into the beast G4tech tv which canned all of tech tv shows but two (why bother, if they weren't gonna use any of tech tv show) and shoe computer in all of g4 old shows (why the hell did they think it was a good idea to tell me about new cellphones during a video game top 10 show). As more time went by all the show got worst and worst and slow got canned one after another and now DAYS go by without a single video game related show being aired. I cant stand to watch more than 20 min of their channel.

I can't say what I want to say because of politics but... Lets just say that same famous killing and prosecution group had members that where of the type of the ones they prosecuted.  They thought they where different and great because they were theirs.

On that note I do like Bloodworth.

Heh, nope.  I love Ninja Warrior.  But I do echo the sentiments of everyone else here.  G4...I don't even know what the hell it is anymore.  It was a gaming channel, and even though I hated many of the shows (pretty much anything that had Tommy Taralico in it), I had to support it because it was pretty much my dream realized.  I had always had high hopes for the network even though I knew it'd never be what I had envisioned (Starcade ftw).  In its original format it was...tolerable.  Fast forward to today and the network isn't even a shell of what it once was.  The tag is "TV for Gamers" but good luck finding anything game related on it.  There is absolutely no reason to tune in anymore, save for Brainaic.  Last time I flipped through they had a show that was dedicated to showing Youtube videos....I think that speaks for itself.  I can honestly say I hate the network with a passion.  Didn't know Bloodworth worked there though.  What's the story behind that?

"TV for Gamers" doesn't necessarily mean TV thats all about games. "TV for Gamers" could have been redifined to mean "TV for things Gamers are interested in" or "TV for make benefit of Gamers".

Shows like Cheaters, JKX and Cops are just reminding you how much happier and safe you are locked away in your house playing videogames than going out and having to deal with lying/joking/a-hole people in the real world. Ninja Warrior & MXC is there to remind you how pointless it is to go out and get exercise, you'll still never complete the obstacle course anyway, besides if you even get close, you'll just look stupid trying. You might as well stay home and act a fool playing Wario Ware and Wii Sports instead. Star Trek..... not sure what Star Trek is there for, but my guess is its just to appeal the the old school nerd that they are tyring to attact to the channel. The kind of nerd that likes to play dress up and go to conventions to meet other nerds to discuss the intracacies<sp> of the Enterprises' technologies.

I'm pretty sure that covers all of the networks non-gaming related programming, as I only watch the channel during a certain time period before work monday --> friday.
