Yeah but it was hard, so that makes it a AAA title.

Difficulty does not make a AAA game.  Contra is hard as hell, but it combines tight controls and addicting game play to make you come back for more.  After all four of the Turtles are dead in TMNT 1 there's no incentive to pick up the game and try again.

I wouldnt say it was Miyamoto speaking from his ego.  They're both great games, but there's no way DKC was on the same level in terms of platforming.  SMW espically was more about exploration than anything else.  While there may be an end to the level, there could be 2, maybe even 3 different ways to finish a level.  There were secrets galore.  There werent as many secrets in DKC.  Any special bonus rooms found gave you extra lives and the like, but the way to the end of the level was the same.  It just isnt the same type of game.

Oh and DKC is up and running on the VC now

Rat, I quoted the rules to you because you are not following them.  The rules state that you should try to spell correctly.  The rules state that typing in all caps is yelling, regardless of what you use all caps for.  While 2D fighters might not be viable on consoles, why can't they be profitable on portables?  Just because it's not on the most powerful console, doesnt mean the franchise isn't profitable anymore.  Do you think a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 wouldn't be profitable because it would be 2D?

And another thing, I admitted I was wrong when I had made the DVD claim.  I even awknowledged it in my next post when I said "Once again with the name calling. I guess that's all you're good for huh Rat? I'll admit i was off a couple years on VHS outpacing DVD, but that does not change my point about DVD and Blu-Ray/HD-DVD."

Uh yah...it's obvious that there was a change in the market.  I was trying to show you that you cannot compare DVD's and VHS to 2D and 3D games.  Like I said before, while VHS and DVD provide the same experience, 2D and 3D gaming provide completely different experiences.  Mario is not the same in 2D as he is in 3D.  Neither is Sonic, nor Zelda.  It's about choice of medium.  Do you think Viewtiful Joe would've been the same if it were in 3D?  Hell no.  That was the style Capcom was going for, accept it.  Oh and another thing:

Do your best to use proper grammar and spelling. It's just annoying for us to have to try to read your shorthand and lazy typing. Take your TIME, check your spelling (write your messages in a word processor or e-mail program, if it helps), and use full sentences. If you write a five word post with little to no relevance to the topic, it's probably going to get deleted.

Show respect to your fellow forum members. We're all gamers, and there's no excuse for insults and rudeness. Just because you're "anonymous" doesn't mean that we can't find out who you are. Ask some of the folks that have not only been banned, but have had their accounts closed with their ISPs. Unless you go through the exercise of "spoofing" your IP before you post, your IP address tells us what ISP you came from, and the timestamp tells your ISP who was using that IP. Even so, we have other tools at our disposal.

It's a miracle you havent been banned again yet.  Get a handle on your anger and stop feeling like everyone is attacking you.

Once again with the name calling.  I guess that's all you're good for huh Rat?  I'll admit i was off a couple years on VHS outpacing DVD, but that does not change my point about DVD and Blu-Ray/HD-DVD.  As you mentioned before companies need to be competitive and as I stated, there is no competitiveness in DVD's.  The market has chosen the victor in that sector.  There is competitiveness in the next generation of video formats, again, like I stated earlier.  You have not proved me wrong in the least.  Also you cannot compare VHS and DVD to 2D and 3D gaming.  DVD is a noticeably better way to view content just like VHS was once upon a time.  It's natural progression of sorts.  On the other hand, 2D gaming is a completely different experience than that of 3D gaming.  Companies choose to make a 2D game based on a vision they have because it provides a different experience than that of 3D.  Also, it's not that I always argue, in fact, I'm not an argusome person.  I just can't stand misinformation, and you happen to be the one to supply it.

Why must someone who obviously has never heard of spell check must resort to calling me names?  Actually, companies still make movies in VHS format and will continue until it isn't profitable anymore.  Also, that report was based on new releases, not just older films.  I mean, by your logic why do people even purchase DVD's anymore?  It's not a very competitive product (as it seems everyone has one) and it's definitely not keeping up with the times as Blu-Ray and HD-DVD can hold so much more information.  You're philosophy is flawed.  Just deal with it.

You do realize that DVD rentals just started outpacing VHS movies just last year right?

Um, how so? Developers don't seem to stop making games for it.

Well, either everyone in Japan finally got a PS2, or the PS3 has managed to off the PS2.  From what I've seen, the Japanese are very trendy, and typically don't purchase outdated hardware.  The PS3 was released, causing it to be the new hip thing until everyone realized it didnt have any games worth owning.  The PS2 is now old news, and therefore the hardware won't sell anymore.

Wow...so in Sony's infinite wisdom, they manage to release a console that's too expensive to begin with and has no good games out for it.  By proxy, they kill off the PS2, the only system they make that generates any money, not to mention the greatest thing to hit Japan since sliced bread (until the DS came along that is). Speaking of the the DS, it's dominance leaves absolutely no marketshare for the PSP.  In a matter of months, Sony has gone from being an unstoppable force to a company that's falling behind fast.  Not good for a corporation where it's gaming division is the only profitable sector.

You should probably make sure all the Xbox games you have run on the 360.  It has to emulate the games, and only certain ones are compatible.

Sega wouldnt have done nearly as bad as they did if they werent so obsessed with releasing hardware every 6 months.  Did the Genesis need to be redesigned twice? (three times if you count the Nomad)  Were the Sega CD AND 32X necessary?  How about the CDX? (Genesis & Sega CD all-in-one)  Or the unreleased Neptune, which was a Genesis & 32X all-in-one.  It was foolish of the company to develop two 32-bit systems at once, and they should've seen it would be suicidal to their market.  Sega wasnt worried about splitting their market with the 32-bit cartridge and 32-bit disc systems they were developing at the same time.  Unfortunately, with so many add-on's being "the next big thing" Sega fans felt (and were) ripped off, as none of the additions were supported nearly as much as the Genesis itself.  Plus, it didn't help that the games were spread across multiple Sega add-on's as well as the Genesis itself, pretty much nulifying any advantage the add-on had over the Genesis

IceCold, true SMW does hold up pretty well, but I believe it's more on SMW's style than technical prowless.  SMW couldn't hold a candle to Super Mario RPG, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country among others.

This was about the time I got banned originally so I never got to reply to this. Anyways it was stupid of AGES to argue the american release had any signifcance because the HARDWARE specs were already finalised by then so my point still stands.

But I have learned to remain calm since then so I hope I dont stray off track too much.

And for the last fu**ing time get off the spelling. Geez all the damn complainin some people do over spelling and sh*t. Seriously I try  by damn best and I type slower now than I used to so back the eff off.

Rat, it was stupid of you for not clarifying what you were talking about in the first place.  Coming out = released, end of story.  Also, remember, being on an American forum, people are going to be discussing things from the American point of view, not the Japanese one.  The Genesis was released in Japan in 88, and the SNES in 90, a difference of 2 years, not 3 as you stated.

Ice Cold, I love that screen cap.  It shows graphical prowless the Wii possess.  It's kind of funny seeing Mario as a graphical powerhouse for once.  It hasnt been one of the top graphical games on a nintendo system since Super Mario Bros. 3, (New Super Mario Bros. notwithstanding).

Not only did they ship 1 million systems Artimus, but they shipped 1 million systems to the US lol
