About rumoured Monolith's 3DS game: it is (was? haven't heard about it for a while) meant to be new series, and that numerous Xenoblade postings on several online retailers were probably for the sequel on Wii U.

As to boss music, i posted that music Super Mario 3d Land as an example because it's such a great boss (probably my favourite final boss in any 3d Mario to date) but the music attached gets too bombastic and become generic at the end. It totally works in the context complements the boss fight perfectly, but isn't as memorable as a separate music piece.

Here's what I wrote for Scott to introduce the Magus theme (didn't get it to him in time for the show):

It starts with the black wind howling. As your arch enemy fades into view, synth organ chords announce that gothic horror is verily upon our heroes. They are facing a man who would destroy the world, a man flung from his own time and with nothing left to lose. As swords are drawn and spells prepared, the driving rhythm kicks in for a battle that you may not survive. It's easy to forget that Magus is established as the final boss, the ultimate enemy, and his musical theme helps sell that illusion to the first-time player. It's my favorite piece of video game music from my favorite video game.

Totally agree with Neal. Xenoblade is coming to 3DS because Nintendo sees a market with RPGs that didn't exist on Wii when Xenoblade first came out. It's hoping for at least low 6 digit sales at least.

From what i remember, Xenoblade sold ~140 000 in Japan and around 250 000 (?) in NA,  so it hit 6 digits in two of the individual territories.
