Not one, but two Epic Mickey games will be hitting stores this year.

Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion has been officially announced for 3DS in issue 277 of Nintendo Power.

Officially, only Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two had been revealed until now, but the 3DS version will be joining it as a completely new game. Developed by Dreamrift (who worked on Monster Tale previously), the title is known to be completely different from the Wii game, but little else will be revealed until the actual issue hits shelves.

Hope it is a quality game and will be worth buying in addition to Epic Mickey 2. They have a great opportunity for a successful game on 3DS if they put the effort into it.

I wonder if this game is going to be thematically related to the "Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse" game.  I have a feeling the similarity in the names isn't a coincidence.

so-- first off, I love Disney.
I have the Collectors Edition of Epic Mickey 1. And I really prefer the Nintendo systems. Only think I miss from owning a Wii is the online play. I noticed that PSN is featured on the teaser also, indicating an online feature, so the PS3 version might have more features.
However, with any luck, the 3DS version and the Wii version will work with each other

The touch screen could really make for some neato tricks to do with the paint brush, and the 3D effect along with the "Power of Illusion" title will probably used for bending your mind into mush.

I hope the whole game is a 2d platformer that takes place in classic Disney cartoons, though I would want them to offer more of challenge then those 2d levels in the original game. Plus I want the the paint and thinner mechanics to be included.

It also has the Xbox Live logo. So the 360/PS3 versions will have some online feature, whether it be online play, DLC, or something else.

I hope it won't be so dark as the Wii Epic Mickey - I mean physically dark - I like my Disney with bright colors and all that drabness got a bit tedious.


Monster Tale was a pretty, bright, colorful game and I hope this will be too.

Same here...loved Hatsworth, liked Monster Tale.  The 3DS is really kicking into high gear now....my backlog is already 3 games deep now, not to mention eshop/downloadables.  And it only took a year.
